hi
I am currently involved in fund-raiding for Hopefield Animal Sanctuary. Dont worry, I am not about to ask you for money but I do need your help.
I have set up an online shop (, Hopefield receive commission.
I hope you do not mind this post. I have nothing personally to gain from this but Hopefield are threatened with closure at the moment and desperately need some help. They look after about 200 abandoned or cruelly treated horses, ponies, donkies, sheep, goats, cows, pigs and chickens.
The owners have dedicated their lives to this and have done a great job but are always struggling financially. I have set up the web site to try and help. Also on the web site, we have started collecting old printer cartridges and mobile phones. If you do not recycle these at the moment, please either send them to me (fund-raising address on the web site) or collect them. When you have 20 or more, let me know and I will arrange a free collection for you. If you are able to collect these at work, it would be fantastic.
If you could pass on this information then you would be helping with the enormous costs of keeping the sanctuary going (it costs about £1000 a week in winter).
Thank you so much
RE: Calling all animal lovers
Sue r, I have also posted something for a farm animal sanctuary under '3 legged sheep'. There are just so many charities that are struggling, the dry summer also didnt help as they had to buy more feed instead of eating grass.
Wish you lots of luck with yours!
I actually did a post on my works notice board and got what i thought was a good response, asking for people to adopt an animal. Do they do this? i assume they do, if not suggest it as its a good way of people being more involved than just making a donation, its also a really nice present for children, especially if they live in a city.
RE: Calling all animal lovers
Hi Vicki
Thanks for your reply. They do have an adoption scheme but of course that means people have to dig into their pockets! The beauty of this shop is that you need not spend any more than you were going to anyway but Hopefield get commission. It is just publicising it that is the problem - hence this posting.
Hopefield rely on income from open days and unfortunately this year they had bad weather on all of them. The Foot and Mouth a few years ago badly affected this too.
You are right, there are so many deserving charities out there and it would be great to help them all. I know people cannot help everything but if you were going to buy something online from Amazon, M&S, etc, why not buy through Hopefield? It wont cost a penny more and will help them.
Best wishes
Sue
