is this right my hubby has told me that they are talking about culling badgers something about cattle are picking up some sort of disease from them. if this is true then what the hell is going on, for hundreds even maybe thousands animals have all lived together without anything major happening to them, now badgers are getting the blame for giving them a disease. IMHO could it not be that they have messed about with the cattle so much now that the poors animals have no immune system left. it was not that long ago that they were saying the badgers were disappearing through being knocked over and badger baiting. so what will happen when they cull the badgers, we all go mad when canda culls the baby seals, is this not the same. what are we trying to do here when these animals become insticnt then what happens every thing on this planet has a knock on effect on every thing else.

DEFRA (formerly MAFF) have been culling badgers for years (protected species except when it suits the government). They are alleged to spread bovine TB and the culling is supposed to stop its' spread. However, wherever badger culling has been carried out, bovine TB has actually spread further! So the point of culling badgers is what exactly???

DEFRA set traps, sometimes bait them with live birds (e.g. magpies). There are, thankfully, unnamed individuals that release trapped badgers and put the traps out of action to stop this cruelty.

Hi ya CR & VS

Not only is culling badgers is dispassionate, covering up poor animal husbandery, but also TB is dormant within the wildlife anycase. What are they (defra) going to do next serilise the land of all animals.

What it's about is reducing scaremongering that would prevent PROFIT.

Best Wishes
