Continued culling of Australian wild horses, the brumbies, is planned for Queensland in November. The approach is to have army snipers firing into herds from helicopters. International pressure may help the parks authorities to come to their senses and stop this inhumane practice, which leaves horses dead or injured and dying, foals orphaned, and survivors traumatised.
One alternative is extracting the horses in family groups, working with them using 'natural' methods and rehoming them, as riding horses, companions and breeding groups. Such a program was launched last year in New South Wales and is progressing well.

Absolutely mortified by this.
I cannot imagine how a human being can sit in a helicopter and do this.
It has made me cry and feel very very sad.
Is there anything else we can do to stop it?
