Hello everyone, I haven't been on dear HP for a long time, but just wanted to post this request for us all to pray in support of Australia at this terrible time for them.
It's so easy to feel overwhelmed and think what possible difference could it make and yet, I've read so many articles and testimonies where pray has made an enormous difference.
How can I pray about overwhelming global problems?
In this and the dozens of other experiences people have shared of the difference prayer made when facing the devastation of fires, again and again what comes through is if we can lift our thinking above the fear, the horror and devastation to know that God's control is present and it is all harmony and love, that's when the wind changes or the fire just dies down. Just know that divine Love is in control.
This is just another example - quite an old one, but I loved the insights he had - and their results.
GLORIFY GOD IN THE FIRES
Here are some excerpts:
The long dry grass of late summer caught like tinder, and within a few hours the fire had burned off many acres and was wholly out of control. A truck-load of government workers endeavored all one day to halt the flames without success. That night a group of the ranchers, including the writer, carried on the fight, but still the flames raged on, fanned by the night wind. The ranchers at length returned to their homes for a few hours' sleep and breakfast before resuming their struggle against the fire, by now spread over hundreds of acres of much-needed range land.
As night came, they went home for a few hours of much-needed sleep, but the author didn't sleep, but prayed instead, with his sacred texts, his Bible and Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy.
Looking up from his books through the window of the basement room in which he was studying, the writer noticed a small toad vainly trying to leap out of the window airway into which it had fallen. A sense of compassion for the unfortunate creature caused the writer to go outside and lift the toad from its prison of concrete. Immediately a great sense of love filled his heart—love for God, love for all His creatures, love for everything in the universe. So great was his affection that all fear was at once swept out of thought.
On the ride back to the fire after breakfast this same all-encompassing love still filled the writer's thought. It was as though all that existed must be glorifying God for His unutterable loving-kindness.
The men soon reached their destination to fight the fire, but there was no fire to fight...
Love and peace,
Judy
True Judy. We get busy running our problems in our heads and make them bigger than God.
Only if we remember to take our problems to God and lay them at His feet
Prayers for Australia
May our greed, mine-thine and agendas that keep us in suffering, melt away with thy grace.
May we become more human caring for our brothers and sisters and our Mother Earth and all her creatures
Thanks Ruby. Beautiful.
Good to touch base here too! 🙂
