Anyone got any good ideas for games to play when travelling along with kids on a long journey? I have 3 boys 14, 11 and 9 years.
Hi Susan
I spy is always fun, also sing alongs. Make them up their own packs of colouring books etc that will keep them quiet for some time. There are always childrens tapes or listen to childrens radio programs.
If you go on line you can download loads of games puzzles etc..
'Bella
Are you travelling by car, train, bus or plane ?
When we were travelling by car to see my sister (150 miles) we got the kids to make up words on the registration plates on cars, lorries etc. ie A123ABC : A Apple Bramley Custard ....It helped with their spelling and linking words together, we knew they were growing up when the swear words started appearing :010:
Another trick we used was that 1 child had to count say all the Sainsbury lorries and the other count another well known company lorries, could change it to models or colours of vehicles.
Staring with A all the way though the alphabet get them to name a animal, something in the home, a girls or boys name there are other's that at the moment I can't remember.
Only thing is that the adult passenger needs to be fully awake to keep check on no cheating or keeping count.
These were in the days before lap tops, ipods, CD players etc so really had to use our imagination to keep the kids busy and fairly quiet.
Have a lovely trip
