I got 30, so scraped through, some of the questions were difficult though, to do with towing caravans etc, which I don't do.

Oh dear,

The shame, 25!!! In my defense I do not drive with caravans on the back and on some of the multiple answer questions I got 2 out of 3 right but was classed as failed. Will now go and refresh my memory on those I got wrong!!

ooops I failed as well 26! But like Reikiangel I don't pull caravans! Also have no idea about tram line road markings as I've never been anywhere that has them!

though in our defense i would think that if we ever get the need to go and drive a tram, then i dare say there are numerous other tests that we would need to take beforehand so i don't see the relavance. And i also never drive whilst towing a caravan, nor do i ever intend to..........i got enough trouble trying to keep a car safely on the road by the looks of my results LOL [sm=banghead.gif][sm=nuts.gif][sm=nuts.gif][sm=wave.gif]

I have many many 'blonde moments' and i'm not even blonde!!

I have never heard of this before, so surely this must be a recent addition to the test, also i am sure that there was nothing about trams when i was learning, seems a bit of a waste to me.

Hi all,

Just out of interest, my mother is soon turning 70 and so has to apply for a new liscence. I said she would have to have a medical or sight test to prove she was still capable of driving safely - but she does not!

All she has to do is fill in a form with a new photo and send it off, then do the same every 3 years. What is the point of that?

i think the point is money ......which is probably the only thing that is useful to come out of these theory and hazard tests, they prove absolutely nothing, about the person's ability to drive!

But that's the thing, she hasn't had to do a test, or have a medical - just fill in a form. Renewing her licence is free as well, so I see this as a pointless exercise.

Ooops, I failed - 27! I guessed on the tram and toucan questions in particular but I must admit I guessed on a few others also. Hope I never have to take another driving test, the first one was bad enough, but I did pass first time.

Another bad driver here - 26 :(. And I love to drive the car! But I had no idea what Pelican or Toucan crossings are. Pulling a caravan is obviously not my thing either.

What I wonder is - would I pass a practical test? I drive too fast and sometimes change lanes inappropriately etc etc. Also, I like to be the first one off when the lights turn green 😀

Hi Bee,

A 'pelican' crossing is one of those light-controlled pedestrian crossings that 'beep' when the light turns red while people cross and then the amber light flashes, just to make sure that pedestrians are protected if they're slow crossers. Cars have to wait until the light turns green again before moving off.

I have heard of a 'puffin' crossing that works in the same way as a 'pelican' but has a sensor attached to them, which tells it when someone wants to cross a road. This is to avoid cars being stopped at pedestrian crossings unnecessarily following some twit's idea of a laugh, which is to press the 'wait' button and watch as the cars stop pointlessly for the lights while no-one crosses.

I have no idea what a 'toucan' crossing is. Better rub myself down with the Highway Code! Ha ha!

I got 35, but then I only did my test 2 years ago (I got 35 then, too)

A toucan crossing is a type of pedestrian crossing that can also be used by cyclists... think of 'two can cross'. You usually get them where there are cyclie lanes.
