I thought this quiz may be of benefit to those currently studying A&P, those with an interest and those of us that need to keep our knowledge fresh.
OK, this is how it works. Working through the alphabet, name anything pertaining to A&P also name the system it can be found in (and a rough location in the body).
Oh, and you can write a basic summary of its function too, but only if you like?:)
I will start:
Aortic Semilunar Valve
Circulatory system (Heart)
[Pressure from blood filling the left ventricle causes the ASV to open letting re-oxygenated blood through into the ascending aorta, pressure then drops very quickly causing the valve to close, preventing flow back and allowing pressure to build again.
Interesting fact: It is the action of this valve closing that is ‘part’ of the second beat in your heart beat.]
Blood Pressure
Circulatory System
Cerebellum
Central Nervous system (brain)
[Controls balance, posture, coordination]
Diaphragm
diaphragm, sheet of muscle along the lower rib cage
or
contraceptive device 😎
edit - sorry named a system did it wrong - still thinking oops
ok i'm back!!
Epiglottis
The epiglottis is the flap of cartilage lying behind the tongue and in front of the entrance to the larynx (voice box). At rest, the epiglottis is upright and allows air to pass through the larynx and into the rest of the respiratory system.
Endometrium - lining of the uterus. Reproductive System
Binah

Femur
thigh bone and longest bone in the body
Gastronemius - muscle of the Calf lower leg - muscular skeletal system.
Binah

Hepatic flexure
Part of the large intestine (colon)
Situated at the top of the ascending colon on the right side of the body, (just below the liver) where there is a 'turn' across into the transverse colon.
Illium
Skeletal System
Jugular Veins
There are jugular veins on each side of the neck, which return the deoxygenated blood from the head to the heart. The jugular vein lies deep inside the neck and is seldom injured.
(unless you meet the Terminator)
Cardiovascular System
Kneecap (or patella)
Sesamoid bone, part of the skeletal system.
Liver
Endocrine(upper right quadrant of abdominal cavity)
[The liver is the largest gland in the human body. Life is only sustainable for roughly 24 hours without liver function. It carries out many tasks like detoxification and purifying of the blood, producing bile that aids digestion etc., etc.
Interesting fact: The human body can withstand losing 2/3 of the liver. The remaining 1/3 will re-grow again (hypertrophy).]
Metacarpals
5 bones of the hand radiate from the wrist to the finger bones provides support for the palm of the hand.
Navicular
Ovary
Patella
The quadriceps femoris (quadriceps, quadriceps extensor, guads or quads) includes the four prevailing muscles on the front of the .
Ribs
Sternum or breast bone
tootsies...or toes :p
ulna - bone in forearm...the one found touching the little finger side of hand
Phalanges - bones of the fingers and toes
Vertebra - 33 in all

X chromosome
Reproductive system
Females have XX chromosomes and males XY.

I was like a cat on a kipper, huh?!:017:
Zigomatic bone
Skeletal system
Commonly known as the cheek bone.
