I'm looking for suppliers of Fair trade/organic clothes. I've done a few searches and most of the men's clothes seem to be limited to t shirts, undies or socks. Yes, I know we have climate change, but I'm not quite ready for wearing t shirts in winter .

I've decided to stop using any GM products, and unfortunately GM is used in most cotton clothes, hence the request.

Mods

Is it possible to have a lifestyle forum for sustainable living?

Thanks,

Myarka

Here is a link to ethical clothing for men:-

[DLMURL] http://www.livingethically.co.uk/pages/shopping/clothing-men.htm [/DLMURL]

This should cover fabrics other than cotton - such as hemp, linen, flax and wool.

Hi Myarka

Ethical Superstore have a good range of clothing for men and women from various makers - . Lots of other fair trade/organic goodies on this site too!

It might also be worth looking on .

I like the idea of the lifestyle forum.

Best wishes,

hi folks

the mods have been looking at the idea, however the consensus is that this forum, 'ECO friendly' already covers the sutainable lifestyle theme

Thank you all for the links, and I've been looking at them all.

I think I must be a fussy old b*&&%r because I can't find what I'm looking for, although some come close. I do understand that ethical clothing if going to be a lot more than the supermarket offerings, but is £90 a fair price for a shirt? Even £50 is a bit steep for everyday wear.

I did find one store with nice long sleaved t's for just under £17 but they all had the store's logo on and I don't want to wear the same design everyday.

Are there any men on HP who wear only ethical clothes, and how do you survive in them during winter?

Myarka.

Hy Myarka

There is a Fair Trade Fair this weekend in Westminster - They usually have some men's clothing, but it's advised to look at the list of exhibitors first as it would be a long way to go for nothing.

However, fair trade is not always ethical - it just means that the worker's are getting paid a bit more for their hard work.

Hi Binah,

Thanks for making that clear, because fair trade and ethical are important to me.

I went to the Fair Trade Fayre and was a bit disappointed - not that many clothes available there and I came away just buying soap - I don't think it is as good as it used to be.

You could also try for fair trade/ethical/organic clothes. They do winter clothing, too. You might be able to snap something up still in the sales.

Sainsburys are now selling t-shirts made from fairtrade cotton at £4.50. Now that fairtrade is becoming more popular, it's becoming less expensive.

Frugi

Sorry for adding to this forum so late, but I've just stumbled across it.

This isn't strictly relevant to you, but i guess you might have kids that want to join daddy on his non GM quest... and good on ya too... its a hard world to go completely organic in!

Anyway, have you heard of "Frugi".
They make some great organic clothing for children and mothers... well worth a look:

Wish you all the best!
