Hi Guys,

Can you recommend any recordings or workshops with guided meditations? I'm looking to start meditating once a day for 5-10min to center myself but can't find many that would really work. Joining a class in London would be cool too!

'Guided Meditations' are not the same as 'meditating'.

Adam 'meditation' means different things to different people. For some it's the whole sitting cross legged going 'om' thing. For others it's about connecting with your higher self/spirit guides/angels. Prayer can be seen as a form of meditation . Some people meditate while walking, or running, I teach tai chi qigong and that is a form of moving meditation. It depends what you are hoping to achieve as to which approach is best.

For what you have said (aiming to centre yourself) I would suggest you google' Mindfulness meditation' there are loads free on line. or find a local mindfulness class. Find your nearest Buddhist center and I will bet they have something to help.

Good luck

There is a great mindfulness intro app called Headspace that you can get on iOS or Android.

There are loads of free guided meditations out there e.g.

However, as Crowan says, guided meditations are not often used for the sort of meditation that would "center myself", but rather meditations that are often used to deal with issues or to ask questions.

Mindfulness meditation is a good place to start if you want to go for the "centering" type of meditation.

You may also consider something like the Practical Philosophy classes that are offered by as they are inexpensive, and teach ways of learning to become present (living in the "Now" as Eckharte Tolle would say), with practices for mindfulness, and leading to teachings in meditation, which are the same style as Transcendental Meditation but not with the TM organisation). I did a few years of the Practical Philosophy classes with my local branch up here in the midlands, and it was very interesting and beneficial. However, their main headquarters is based down in London, so that could be just what you're looking for.
