I don't really know where I fit in but would like to join in discussions on spirituality/faith etc. I don't think I believe in God but I feel that there is something (not sure what) in all of us and everything, and it's all interconnected. I don't feel the need to be in a church or other such building as I feel happiest when I'm out walking in the countryside where I live.
I feel that living a compassionate life is more important than doctrine (memo - must try harder!)
Am I waffling?

Isn't alll one big waffle!
You are right compassion is more important than anything but it is merely a word that we, as a culture use profusely these days. Simple unpretentious small acts of kindness- we are all capable of that...aren't we? There is no spiritual life separate from normal reality. and if one acts from heart, why go somewhere special, do anything special, why even name it as spiritual?. The entire creation is inspired by love. and you are part of it-within the continuity of existence, its all seemless, jointless. ONE. One heart beating life into life itself.

We are all spiritual beings. Some people cut themselves off from this aspect of themselves - and that causes a lot of problems. I believe any practice that enables you to 'feed' your spiritual side is worthwhile. If that is going to church then fine. If for you that means a walk in nature , meditation, joining a development circle, then equally that is also fine.

'Any road honestly followed leads to God' For God substitute any word that you feel happy with. The key thing is the honesty of the acton and the intention

I read somewhere that, not so long ago, being a christian meant you DO things, not you BELIEVE things. This stress on 'believing' [a lot of rubbish?] is only of recent origin.
Makes sense to me.
