Valentine’s Day can be a very difficult days for some people, especially the bereaved, the divorced, the lonely. People look for love from other people, but the only way we can ever have love is to give it away! It’s not something we can ever obtain, we can only give it. There is a love though, that we always have all the time and that is one great relationship which we all have, is always there, which never leaves us, never lets us down, never judges, just cherishes, comforts, protects and guides, and that is the tender, loving God, divine Love, who loves us unconditionally. We are one with that Love. There can be no separation. Love is the core of our being.
I love these words which so sum up what I’ve trying to say:
"Being the Beloved expresses the core truth of our existence... We are intimately loved long before our parents, teachers, spouses, children and friends loved or wounded us ...
Listening to that voice with great inner attentiveness, I hear at my centre words that say: 'I have called you by name, from the very beginning. You are mine and I am yours ... on you my favour rests. I have moulded you in the depths of the earth and knitted you together in your mother's womb. I have carved you in the palms of my hands and hidden you in my embrace... You belong to me. I am your father, your mother, your brother, your sister, your lover and your spouse...yes, even your child...wherever you are I will be. Nothing will ever separate us. We are one." (Henri Nouven, Life of the Beloved)
He is echoing many Biblical passages, including:
[COLOR="Purple"]Isa 43: “Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine”;
Isaiah 49: “Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me”
Ps 139: “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.”
and ‘The Revelations of divine Love’ by Julian of Norwich 1373

"...and so I saw that God rejoices that he is our father and God rejoices that he is our mother and God rejoices that he is our true husband and our soul his beloved wife……"
“And so I saw full surely that before ever God made us, he loved us. And this love was never quenched, nor ever shall be. And in this love he has done all his works, and in this love he has made all things profitable to us, and in this love our life is everlasting.
In our making we had beginning, but the love in which he made us was without beginning, in which love we have our beginning. And all this shall we see in God without end." (From In Search of Julian of Norwich by Sheila Upjohn)
Have a wonderful, Love-filled day, today and every day!
Judy
Thank you for remembering those on their own. I lost my husband 4 years ago and without fail,he always bought me a valentine's card. Two weeks before he died,he said to me ' Take some money out of my wallet and go buy yourself a card'. He could not go out himself because he was dying of cancer.
SHO

Thank for starting the post Judy!
Ah, thank you Judy. My partner moved out a couple of weeks ago, a temporary separation so am missing quite a lot at the moment.
However, on my daily walk with my lovely dog, the angels sent me a penny and had some words for me, so I am feeling very loved from those in Spirit.
Happy Valentine's day to all of those missing their loved ones today.

I've been moved by all these replies - especially SHO, Fairytrish and Rosi's. Just lean on Love - it's always there for you.
I remember reading an article by a woman who had recently lost her mother. Every birthday, her mother would bake her blueberry scones (or something similar!) and bring them round. She sat on the steps of her house weeping, feeling that she wasn't going to get her blueberry scones that year.
Then she stopped and realised that the love her mother expressed was her individual reflection of divine Love. That Source was always there and she couldn't be cut off from it. A few minutes later, her next door neighbour came round, saying,"I've just baked some blueberry scones and I wondered whether you would like some." :006:
So even if the person isn't there, that love still is and will come to you, albeit in a different way.
Love and peace,
Judy
wow that's amazing about the scones Judy! xxx
Dear friends,
I was just thinking about all of you who are feeling cut off from love today and remembered Mary Baker Eddy talking about how "...this seeming vacuum is already filled with divine Love." Here are some more of her words that I hope you will find comforting:
[COLOR="Blue"]Divine Love is never so near as when all earthly joys seem most afar. (Miscellany 290)
Human affection is not poured forth vainly, even though it meet no return. Love enriches the nature, enlarging, purifying, and elevating it. The wintry blasts of earth may uproot the flowers of affection, and scatter them to the winds; but this severance of fleshly ties serves to unite thought more closely to God, for Love supports the struggling heart until it ceases to sigh over the world and begins to unfold its wings for heaven. (Science and Health 57)
You are not alone. Love is with
you watching tenderly over you
by day and night: and this Love
will not leave you but will sustain
you and remember all thy tears,
and will answer thy prayers.
(The Mary Baker Eddy Collection)
Love and peace,
Judy
that is nice judy
Hello dear friends here,
Just thinking about all of you who might be feeling lonely today. I should have written a new thread, but am a bit pushed for time and actually, this thread is so special, it bears reading again - and feeling blessed and embraced!
Love to you all today!
Judy
Thanks P - but you are two days too early!
(However, I'll divert the wishes to him indoors - it's his birthday!)
Thank you so much....That is so sweet of you.
SHO. 🙂
Thanks P - but you are two days too early!
What a wally I am! Hardly ever look at a calendar. I must have been getting confused with Shrove Tuesday. I gave a talk this morning and wished all the teenagers a happy Valentine Day and wondered why they all laughed. 😮
Never mind , Thursday will soon come round!
Love and peace,
Judy xx
Being lazy again and resurrecting one of my favourite threads. But it says what I feel for everyone.
Big hug to you all!
