At college earlier this year, one of the students was deeply interested in shamanism, so brought in a beautiful array of items and cards. After being smudged, we sat in a circle surrounding the face down cards, meditated for a short while and were asked to choose a card we were drawn to. I already knew as I had been drawn to one immediately, it seemed to stand out like a beacon. It was the White Buffalo, after finding out a little more about our animals, we then meditated for 30 minutes to get in touch with our Power animals. It was one of the clearest meditations I ever had at the time and was quite shell shocked (in a good way)
My question is, how can we work with our animals. Should we keep up the meditation, asking for advice and guidance? Sorry if I seem a little naive, shamanism has always interested me but I dont think its been ready for me as yet.

Hi there Bazzy Here is a link of a post i did about how to connect and work with guides
We have several main animal guides that stay with us through out our time here, and then we have various animals and creatures coming in to teach us various things.
White buffalow is a strong animal, and because it was white this indicates that this is on eof your main guides, who may or may not shift into a native aerican guide.
I have been blessed in having White eagel, who pos in now and again

ahaa I see, so when I meditate I can ask that the animal guide to teach and bring its own strengths into my life. *scampers off to remind self of traits of buffalo*

Always seem to be skint lol but then abundance isnt necessarily material wealth, as I am surrounded by genuine, loving people.

Remember also that your animal guide reflects the strengths and weaknesses of your inner soul, so to have a highly spiritual guide like White Buffalo means you have a lot of potential in there! As you open to allow Buffalo into your life, She will teach you many important things.
(read up on the legend of White Buffalo Calf Woman, who brought the Pipe to the Lakota and take a look at which has info about Miracle, the white buffalo and her children.

I think today has been a wake up call, to really crack on with my awakening. So thanks for reminding me that I do have potential, as do we all. Have been told by my guides and angels (in various readings) that I am destined for great things, but I kind of hold myself back and suffer with a little 'self doubt'. Time to meet up with my Buffalo guide again I think
Its strange that you mention that the buffalo is a she, for in my initial meditation and meeting, I was sitting on an outcrop of rock overlooking the plains. A woman touched my shoulder (it almost felt like a lovers touch, it seemed so familiar) and travelled with me to the herd where a white buffalo broke away and came towards me. We were meant to become one with our animals at this point but it seemed forced, it seemed more that the woman and the buffalo wanted to merge! All in all it was a wonderful time, but this was six months ago and I have gotten caught up with life's little ordeals and really let slip the time spent finding myself.
Thank you all for showing me what I think I already knew......time to get back on that path of destiny methinks
