Living in Cornwall

When kids my sister and I used to go out around the country side and follow stream(small shallow rivers that were clear and fresh)that means we walk through them on a journey of exploration, we use to see little mino fish darting around and playing.
We would see red sqirrel busy in the trees, little frogs, birds chatting around us. You could smell the clean air, the winds gently sound, sometime we would get a climce of a fox drinking from the stream.
Butterflys following us on are walk, little animals poping their heads out of their homes to say hello, many animals would join are walks without fear.
Truly a lovely experience with nature as it was when children.

Is there places like this were animals still trust humans?
Even the skys were clearer and the clouds would talk more.
I would love to hear anyones experiences with nature when young or do you go now to places like this?

love and blessings

Hi Wendy

Ooh you've brought back memories for me: between the ages of 4 and 10 I lived in Herefordshire and was more or less free to roam the fields and the country lanes. I was often alone so I had an imaginary herd of horses to keep me company. I remember planting carrot tops at the edge of a wood and one time I found a baby squirrel and got my dad to rescue it. we fed it with milk from a spoon and let it go when it was big enough to fend for itself. I knew all the wildflowers and the birds. And I used to suck the nectar from cowslips and eat primroses and knew to rub dock leaves on nettle stings. Nowadays I doubt that small children would be given so much freedom.. or that there are unspoiled places left for them.

But my love of nature survives...even if it is fed now by walks in the local park and watching the birds in my back garden! Thank you for reminding me...

Much love
Sunanda xxx

Yes, there is such a place and I am blessed to be living on it. I am in the US and if a fairly metro type environment but we live in a little clearing in three acres of woods. There is a stream on both sides of our house, the big stream and the little stream. There has been no person living in this place for almost 200 years, since the white man settled it until my husband built a house here. When I met him, my guides told me to look up the land records and I discovered that the only other person who lived here beside the native indians was a white man who wrote An Indian Doctor's Dispensatory. Some government agency that tracks the health of streams, told us that the stream is still so pure there are 11 species of life that have they have not found anywhere else in the county. We are truly blessed and you are invited to visit anytime.

RE: The Streams of long ago

I spent many a happy hour wandering the fields around our home Iin Stonehouse, Lanarkshire, between the ages of 9 & 12. There was never any worry about where I was or how long I was away, although I didn't always have our dog with me. My friend and I made a map of an area by the river, covered with hawthorn, which we called Narnia... No lions tho'! We used to wander up to the remains of a large house on a hill, which set me to thinking about its history... an interest which remains today. I'd follow babbling burns and hidden valleys, find rabbit holes, come across sheep bones...

I've retained that need for nature since then, always knowing that I need green around me to balance myself. The house before our present one was wonderful - ex-council, set off the road with woods all around and a pond at the base of the hill, view across to the Ochils... The bird song was LOUD in the spring and deer regularly visited the field right outside. We once found a fawn in the grass! 🙂 I got a fox's skull from the burn there and had my first taste of 'Presence' in the woods up the road. That's where I met my first faeries and saw a leyline... Wish we still lived there.... We have open countryside around us now but it's not quite the same. (kids set fire to the bracken and try to dig up the badger sett... grrr..)

Lovely memories...

Lorraine

I was recieving some healing today of my brother And we both went to a place called Mallham cove, he was sittign behind me on a large rock in the centre of the stream, and I was before him also sittign down both our feet in the water.

Mallaham cove is in yorkshire and the water comes up from deep under the earth, so I do belive that its qualities would be healing as well as the land about it.

O soo want to go plodging now[&:]

Love
