RE: Smudge Feathers
Like anything shamanic it's best to find your own. Swan feathers are fantastic for smudging and quite easy to find in parks if you're in towns or bird sanctuaries and rivers/lakes in the country.
RE: Smudge Feathers
The feathers I use for moon rituals are Swans feather, gathered on special dates from a pond situated on the Isle of Wight, here on the South coast. I also use white seashells gathered there for containing the elements and herbs. I also use herb mixtures gathered in the " New Forest "

I've made my own using pigeon feathers, and have tied them with a ribbon; they work just fine.
RE: Smudge Feathers
as i'm only beginning my shamanic journey i am currently on the look out for feathers.. i agree with others that it's probably more powerful to use feathers that you find yourself.. i've asked the lovely bird spirits (which seem to be so poignantin my life right now) to leave me some so i'm sure i'll find them wheni'm out walking the dog..

RE: Smudge Feathers
Just keep looking on the ground and choose a few. You don't need to decorate them.
If I remember rightly, when you smudge, the feather's vein should point to the floor as it would in flight?
RE: Smudge Feathers
thanks for the tip daisychain.. i wasn't aware of that.. i'm going into the woods tonight so with a bit of luck i should find some.. will let you know how i get on..;)

RE: Smudge Feathers
I also would agree with those who say you can find your own. I very often do that; I use swan feathers, goose feathers, magpie feathers and also crow feathers. 🙂
