Hi

I have a deep interest in shamanism and ethnobotanics and wondering if anyone has experience of or does indeed relate to plant allies.

regards

RE: Shamanism and Plant Allies

Hi Prusha, I haven't worked directly with plant allies as such, but they have worked with me - lol! A few years back I took part in an experiment; a herbalist student had some shamanic workers and herbalists take the same herbal drink in a blind test. The shamanic folks journeyed to meet the plant and the herbalists worked by their methods. It was very interesting indeed and the first and only time I've done such a thing.

Anyway, I was able to give the woman information on where the plant grew, what it looked like, what it was used for and how it was gathered, in older days. My info wasn't 100% accurate - especially the description - but the uses and method of gathering fitted with other journeys and information, so it was quite an eye-opener for me. The plant (which we were told afterwards) was Verain (I think - memory not so good), which I discovered is used for journeying, amongst other things!

Since then, I experienced a direct link with homeopathic remedies I was taking last year. In fact, I kind of 'over-dosed' when combining them with a Bach Flower remedy!

Hope that helps.

Otter

Hi Moonfeather

Thank you for your reply. I think the plant you are speaking about is Vervain officinalis. Interesting to hear your experience with it. Vervain has been used for centuries and was a favourite plant of the druids. Although I have no experience of it myself, I have a small patch grown from a cutting I took whilst on holiday in Perenporth.

thanks again
