Hi
Is there anyway to find a list of practicing Shamans in the South East? Is there any kind of register that can be looked up?
I am looking for someone in Essex/Kent/Sussex who offers consultations.
Feel free to PM any recommendations - thank you.
Kilin
Hiah,
You could try .
Had a look on their site the other day
Thank you white willow - interesting link.
Courses always intrigue me - can *everyone* learn these skills - do we all possess these gifts and just have to uncover and enhance them?
Part of me says 'absolutely' but it may be wishful thinking. 🙂
Hi
Yes everyone can become a shaman. It is not exclusive to a few, although how competent one becomes depends on many things. Firstly, it depends on our soul age and how many lifetimes we have lived, to gain the knowledge, skills and understanding that is required. It would be impossible to become a master shaman in one lifetime, simply because we could gain so much information in such a short a time.
Shamanism is not a religion nor a belief. It is understanding energy, the various forms it presents itself, whether within us or in everything living that surrounds us. It's understanding that energy exists on various frequencies, what many would call other planes. It's learning to integrate all these various energies into one complete whole - which includes not only this earth plane but in all existences.
Ancient cultures understood this well, and to them shamanism was simply the facts of life. Spirits, healing, elements, etc - all were understood as one part of a whole. Differing cultures applied different ceremonies to acknowledge thse facts, but the core understanding for every culture from Austrailia to the Inuits were the same.
Why? Because they simply were the facts of life, the same the world over. The same as everyone in the world knows we need oxygen to survive, past cultures understood how energy in its many forms was also integral to sustain healthy lives.
Many make a big deal about the path - you have to undertake much ceremony, be competent in this and that, which is quite saddening, as it puts others off acquiring more knowledge and understanding in their lives.
Fortunately there are many more who quietly live it, and equally quietly and competently support others who wish to accompany them on this particular journey through life. It's a path that is the right of everyone to follow and readily available - if they so choose 😀
Sorry if my typing is terse. Bit tired. And I've just joined which makes me nervous at first.

I absolutely agree with you...and have little else to add to your accomplished posting...except welcome to HP...interesting reading...and look forward to hearing more of your viewpoint 🙂
nice reply, Soul... and the best description of what it is to be a shaman I have ever come across. Must admit I'm one of those who always thought you had to be able to do certain things to be a shaman, but I'm slowly realising that it's more how you live it, than how you label it.

interesting thread. One of the things I wonder is about predisposition..some people have a leaning towards this way of Being in the world and as they follow inklings, signs, dreams and passions, then the Old Ways open up for them more and more.
We are blessed in the UK with the comparative freedom to explore this as a life path, a soul path

I am so sorry that I didn't read these posts sooner - I think I had expected an e-mail to let me know there were replies. I need to check my settings.
I am glad to hear that any one can become a Shaman. So my next question is, how would one learn how to become one? I am assuming we would need to have someone teach us - a sort of apprenticeship?
I think the point about how many times we have been here affecting how much we can progress affects all walks of life - from the mundane to the spiritual.
Thank you for such great posts and for taking time to respond.

''I am glad to hear that any one can become a Shaman.''
I would be more inclined to say anyone has the potential to become a shamanic practitioner
You could look for an ongoing course, or an introductory weekend.
Then practice!!!

Hi again Killin
Just wanted to say dont know if you noticed before but if you go again to and click on shamanic healing and counselling then there is a list of people thru the areas...

Lujan Matus also does online shamanic guidance or you can go to Bali to learn from him directly -
I am glad to hear that any one can become a Shaman.
As far as I am aware there are generally 3 ways of becoming a Shaman 🙂
1) Hereditary - an ancestor was a Shaman
2) Chosen - spirit choses you to train as a Shaman
3) Training - you chose to undergo a training course in Shamanism
However the one thing all Shamans have in common is the ability to communicate with spirit/Guides/Ancestors (whatever you refer to them as being) and ultimately being trained by them.
So my next question is, how would one learn how to become one? I am assuming we would need to have someone teach us - a sort of apprenticeship?
If you are already able to Journey or otherwise talk to a Guide you can ask them. If you want training in how to Journey then you can take a course in this. There are a variety available including those following a specific tradition and more generic courses. I'm not sure if this counts as advertising and is allowed* [EDITED] Do a bit of research and pick a course that a) charges an ethical fee and b) comes with support/tutors you can contact.
Best wishes for your Shamanic development 🙂
*Note to mods - newbie alert! If referring to our own course isn't allowed please feel free to delete.
Hello Motucki and welcome to Healthypages 🙂
It was nice of you to ask what constitutes advertising on the discussion forums, which is appreciated, but I'm afraid that where you now see [EDITED] in your post above there was a small amount of text which I've removed, as you were offline. I've PMd a copy of that to you.
The forum guidelines are here, including on advertising:
<a class="go2wpf-bbcode" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href=" https://www.healthypages.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=1795 "> https://www.healthypages.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=1795
There are other areas of HP where you may advertise courses and events etc, which you can go to via these links [or there are tabs at the top of every page]:
<a class="go2wpf-bbcode" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="Directory">Directory
<a class="go2wpf-bbcode" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="Events">Events
<a class="go2wpf-bbcode" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="Courses">Courses
<a class="go2wpf-bbcode" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="MarketPlace">MarketPlace
<a class="go2wpf-bbcode" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="Advertising">Advertising
Some of these can be used for free providing you link to Healthypages on the main page of your own website (See here under Professional Membership: <a class="go2wpf-bbcode" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href=" https://www.healthypages.co.uk/getlisted.php "> https://www.healthypages.co.uk/getlisted.php )

Thanks for the edit bringing me back within your guidelines and for the info. Apologies once again for my transgression 🙂
Thank you Motucki - I have had a look at your website - very interesting. 🙂
Thanks Moyucki. I have just registered on the forum as am interested in the on-line training. Haven't had any formal training but am being taught by my guides and am finding my shamanic path both calling and opening. Hope the site will be for me.
butterflywings
Glad to be of help 🙂
I'll get round to altering my membership on here when I have time so I can put info on this site 😮
Great that you are being trained by your Guides butterflywings. :045: That is what Shamanic 'formal training' is, by the way. Support in this world is frequently helpful but at the end of the day it is the ability to communicate with Guides/Spirits/Ancestors which is what defines a Shaman.
yes, I have found being taught by my own guides to be verey affirming.
I was shown how to do an extraction in some of my journeys, then went to do a training with Sandra Ingerman, and the techniques she taught were exactly what my spirit allies had already been showing me.
tigress
That is good to know Tigress. My guides have told me not to value anything less if it comes through me rather than someone else but its good to have confirmation that this works.
I don't know about your guides but mine are more demanding of me and less tolerant if I am lazy than any course tutor would be. I love them all dearly though and honestly wouldn't have it any other way!

Indeed. In fact I would value it more 🙂 My relationship with my Guides is very special, I have known some of them for many years. I respect their guidance very highly. That doesn't mean that, like anything else, I have to accept it blindly. It does mean though that experience has shown me it is trustworthy and valuable to me.
Its great for us though, like Tigress says, to find verification through something or someone on the physical world. We are only human and its hard when we are alone sometimes to stand strong and think 'I'm not potty this is genuine' 😉

Thank you too Motucki. I am really new to working with guides so directly (since July 07) so am still finding my way (guess this never changes). Things have opened up and moved so quickly for me that I am only really beginning to see the larger picture rather than isolated bits. It is so good to hear how others are working as I don't really know anyone here who is working in a similar way.
