How to make a Medicine Wheel

You will need....
Two flexble twigs without side shoots (such as willow, ash, or hazel)
Sharp scissors and craft knife (Children to be supervised by an adult)
Strong thread
Solf thin leather
Feathers, fur and beads (optional)

(1) Find two slender twigs, each 10-20inches (25-50cm)long, on a living tree. Ask the tree's permission to cut the wood, and leave a small gift in exchange for its gift.

(2)Carefully bend one of the twigs into a tight circle, and bind the two ends firmly together with thead.

(3)Wet a long thin strip of leather and wind it around the entire hoop, leaving about 5-10 inches (12-20cm) hanging at the beginning.

(4)When you come back to your beginning piece, tie the two ends of the strip together, and leave them hanging as a pair of tassels

(5)Cut the remaining twig in half and bind the two pieces into a cross shape with thread. Insert them inside the hoop to form the cross of the four directions (North, East, South, West.) Trim the ends of the wood to fit, as necessary, and bind the cross into place with the thread.

(6)Add decorations, such as feathers, fur, and beads. Whether fancy or plain, this will be a sacred circle, mirroring your place on the sacred hoop.

The Symbolic Circle made in many cultures act as a reminders of the sacred circle that encompasses us all.
