The Flowering Tree Ceremony

As we stand upon the Earth, 6 directions stretch out as we gaze around us. In many Native American traditions as well as others, these directions have been allocated certain attributes.
This map of reality has come to be known as the 'medicine wheel'.

The Flowering Tree ceremony is a hands- on way of exploring and working dynamically with this medicine wheel.

No-one knows for sure where this ceremony began, but many seekers are finding it to be a useful tool to engage with on their shamanic path. There are many ways to work with this ceremony, and many questions can be asked, so here is one way we can go about it.

Find the tree which is to become the centre of your medicine wheel
Ask the tree if it wishes to be your ally in this work.
Go to the south of the tree and stand with it behind you and ask the 'south question'

''How do I feel about my present situation?''

Wait for any responses, which may come as thoughts, reflections from around you e.g. a leaf falls, the wind suddenly blows etc.
Get an overall sense of what you are experiencing

Thank this direction then move clockwise to the north of the tree
The question for this direction is

What are the facts of this present situation?

Once again, notice the responses from within and from the environment

Then, after thanking this direction, move to the West

The question here is

What does my intuition say about this matter?

Repeat the previous steps, then move to the East

The question here is

What action does the situation require of me?

Notice all responses, give thanks and before you leave the tree, leave a gift such as tobacco or a small crystal etc

PS you are welcome to post here to dicuss any experiences you have with the ceremony

Fast Growing Tree

Try the American Holly tree for a natural evergreen hedge. It is known to attract song-birds like bluebirds and cardinals. In the spring it has lovely cream colored flowers, while for a winter display it’s dotted with bright red berries making it a treat to have in a garden.
Alternatively, if you want some lower plants you can go in for Crepe Maples, which again are delightful color-changers. Check out our online nursery, you can get information on both these natural hedges out here:
