Hi everyone.

I have just brought my first drum and am thinking of using it to help develop my journies.

Does anyone one else use the drum for journey work? If so what do you find works best for you?

I would recommend getting to know your drum first, as it is the tool which will guide you and you have to hear its voice, how it changes. Listen for the sustaining note which hums throughout a drumming session - that's what you journey on.
I can recommend is that you practice the four beats of journeying: one beat - earth heartbeat; two beat - trot/quickening; three beat - cantering; four beat - galloping and being carried over the edge into the journey. Barbara Meiklejohn-Free has a cd on this subject; it needs to be heard and practiced to be understood. 😉
If you buy cds on drumming, try and listen to them first because the voice of the drums used may not suit you. I have a cd upstairs which was totally useless for me, lol.

Hi Moonfeather

Thanks you for your help, I am going to practice the different beats later today when i get the chance. can not wait. I have also had a look on amazon and found some Cds by Barbara which look really good, so I think i'll add them to my xmas list.
