Is shamanic journeying actually a way of exploring and interacting with what Jung called the collective unconscious? What do people think....
Something interesting happened today in relation to this thread. I was listening to an interview about shamanism with Jonathan Horwitz. He was discussing the 'what is a spirit' question and gave a definition which he had received from spirits when he asked them what they are: "spirits are bundles of energy, bundles of power from the universe that show themselves to you in ways you will recognise". I liked this.
It's a shame that Jonathan doesn't write more. There are some good articles by him on his website.
However, no one else was putting the shamanic point of view. On this forum, it needs to be at least one of the view points. And it's the only one I can give.
Yes, it's a pity that there isn't a greater shamanic representation on here. There does seem to be a lot of pressure on you alone, Crowan - not intended by either me or mouse!

No problem. But it would be good if some others would join in. I hope I'm not putting anyone off!;)

Yes, agree. Come on people!
Many people start out with one of their senses being more sensitive to the spirits. As time goes on, the others come into play as well.
Do you think that fear can block your perception of spirits? I mean, really block it so you have an awareness that you could see/sense a great deal more but know that you are too scared?

Yes. Certainly it can block your ability to journey. I don't know if it would block an innate ability to see spirits (for example, ghosts).
