Advice sought on Shamanic Courses with Ross Heaven

Hi there - I am just studying a hypnotherapy diploma that also encompasses some shamanic practices - sounds like an odd combination but I think its brill!!

Anyway - one of the course leaders went to peru last year with Ross Heaven and was enthralled by it. She talks in glowing terms about his training style. Obviously this is third hand but she definitely rates him.

I have looked into training with shamanism-wales and think her courses look very intuitive but distance was an objective there for me at least.

Who are you training with Wispy?

I've only had a look at some of Ross Heaven's books and he's a good writer, even though I may disagree with some of his stuff, but that's another story, yet to be told lol.

I'd really think about this kind of course as you need to find out what your going to be learning and how it goes with your belief system.
I'm also doing a shamanic course and it fits it well with what I follow as I already do some of the stuff I'm learning and I also have a great teacher. It comes in handy when your reiki master is one of the same lol.
I really hope you get to go on one of the courses even if it's Ross Heaven's. I'm not against this bloke but he's just normal like everyone else.

I am by no means an expert, having only done a brief intro weekend in shamanism a few years ago, but the teacher was wonderful and I would heartily recommend him - Jonathan Horowitz is Danish but teaches in the UK regularly, I just looked up his website and he seems to be coming to London in October:

Hello Beckyboop, love the name by the way :).

You see, sometimes people can get into hero worship and not see the man who is just like everyone else, skin and bone lol. I know he does a lot of stuff on the radio and so forth but he's no different to any other teacher within shamanism, O K he's a bit crazy for the antics he does but isn't the rest of us slightly mad lol. We have to be doing this kind of course as we learn some of the more crazy things within the path. I know cos I'm doing a course right now and I've been warned that it's going to be this way so I've got to have a very open mind on what I'm learning.
I've have a good idea on some of the stuff we'll be touching but the rest I've just got to go with the flow, I'm just pleased I have a wicked sense of humour and I can laugh at myself lol. I've already done some crazy stunts within the pagan path and already know some of the stuff that I'll be doing so I'm getting ready for it lol. I just hope it's going to be a fun course as I have a very good partner with me who is on the same level and I hope that I'll learn loads for my teacher.
I have seen some of Ross Heaven's books with looking through my teachers bookcases and he's been to one on his lectures and he says he's on the level, so I'm sure he can be a very good speaker.
I did find that I found something I didn't agree with him in one of his books as I have a long history within martial arts and could have proven him wrong but I'm going to read the full book before I send him a email lol, I may not get away with it but it's worth a go lol.
I just treat these kind of folk like everyone else as they do the same things as me when I'm at home and I believe that I'm doing the right thing at the end of the day, so you see I'm not against this Ross Heaven as I'm sure he's a good bloke at the end of the day lol.

I did also discover another guy, in Bali, who seems quite un-normal indeed, and shall be spending a couple of weeks with him in september.

I'm really pleased for you lol, do you know what you've let yourself in for lol.
there is a lot of crazeeee people about learning shamanic practices, please let me know if he's all what he's cracked up to be and please don't miss anything out lol. I'm doing my course with my reiki master as I know him and he me and I think that is important as some of the stuff that I'll be learning has to have something of trust and I'm not very trusting on people I don't know, it's just a personal thing but I'm sure you will have a good time with the shaman from Hell, sorry couldn't resist the plug as he's been through something like this hasn't he lol.

Hi there - sorry for the delay in replying my course which covers hypnotherapy, NLP and has a shamanic perspective is with Talking Cures Training - and one of the leaders speaks very highly of Ross Heaven having been out to Peru with him.

Yes, I have come across him and he banned me from going to one of his courses. I asked too many questions! Which I felt were necessary before doing anything further.
I wish you well with the course and hope in person he is much more accepting. I turn my back on him however.

I do not know anything about Ross Heaven, but I have been fortunate to cross ways with a very skilled Shamanic Healer. He provides 1 to 1 healing, development sessions, workshops and classes. Please have a look at .

Actually, I would strongly advise you against going to Ross Heaven. he has stolen other peoples work and then slandered them for a long time. It seems nothing he has is genuine. Furthermore, I know people who have been ripped off, abused and damaged by him. No wonder he doesn't like you asking questions.

It's a bit of an old thread you've dug up here.

You talk of this Ross Heaven (I know nothing of him myself) as slandering people, yet some of the things you are saying about him could be construed in the same way... I certainly hope you have evidence to back up what you're saying.

yes, i certainly do have plenty of evidence. But you are right, it is a rather negative thing to get into to, so I won't labour the point. i just think people should be careful.
