How do you feel about general readings?
Ive done readings for a long time now but recently have noticed people are just asking for a general reading, then at the end asking loads of questions about something that didn't come up! As I do email readings as well its often better to focus on two/three questions.
If I have a reading its because I have a question or want to look at a certain situation.
What about anyone else

Totally agree with you ellie.. lol... But it is also for some to practise their cards with as well.

Hi Ellie,
I think that if people are wanting a Tarot reading simply for entertainment/curiosity/have no pressing issues, then they will ask for a general reading and that is fine with me. A general reading will often throw up (that doesn't sound nice does it!) some pertinent information and issues.
In my experience, it's good to start with a short general reading to make a connection, then move on to a more specific one. If the client really doesn't have any questions, then try a horoscope spread, you don't need to read all the houses. You can ask if any areas of their life are of special interest to them.....finances, career, family, romance, etc. Or just see where the cards pull you. Depends on your time really.
Or ask them for three specific questions.
Hope this helps a little,

I'm more than happy to do general readings too. I think they can be very useful if someone wants to just check where they are, confim what they are feeling or just see if they are missing something.
I usually get the 'general reading' request at parties and entertainment events - people tend to be just curious rather than having a pressing issue. That's ok, and I just read the cards to see what comes up as a special message for them from the tarot. The question I have in mind for them is 'what does 'A' need to pay attention to at this moment in time?'
I usually don't get general reading reqests, when clients make appointments with me or request an e-mail reading. And when they do, I ask why they want a reading in the first place. I'm not asking about a complete backround, but just a keyword, e.g. relationship, career, lifestyle - that's all I need to know. sometimes they want to know about all of these issues, so that gives me the opportunity to address all these in a special spread I create during the reading. The rest will be revealed in the reading. When people pay me good money for a reading, I want them to get the most of it - general readings are fine for 'entertainment purposes', but otherwise I like to offer them as much insight as possible.
🙂
Thats what I was meaning, as you say parties etc usually a general reading is fine, however I do feel that a person gets more from their reading when certain areas are focused on, or to look at the way forward etc.
