I'm still (slowly) learning to read Tarot cards but love practising on myself and some of my friends.

My first purchase was the Sacred Rose deck which I liked but there was no 'magic' there.

My second deck came to me as a present from a lovely HP'er - the Gilded Tarot. Now these I really liked and felt drawn to.

For sometime now I have wanted the Mystic Faerie deck but I've not come across them in a shop although I know I could get them on line. Anyway the other evening after work I went off to the Trafford Centre to buy some work clothes and as I strolled into a book shop, there they were, the Mystic Faerie deck, organza bag and book. £20 for these or £20 for a work shirt??

Well, I couldn't leave the cards on the shelf and I am so glad I bought them. They are gorgeous and I find the minor arcana much easier to interpret. They tell a story of their own as you go through them in order.

My Gilded set are still special but now the Sacred Rose may be left behind.:(

And I still don't have enough shirts for work!!

The mystic Faerie are gorgeous pictures and nice to handle and shuffle, and the little organza bag that comes with them is really luxurious.

Going to work topless then treacs...what will the new boss think :eeeK:

Hi Tarotlady, I've been looking at them and having a good read of the book that comes with them. I had a look at the minor cards before reading the book and straight away you could see there was a story in them. I drew a card to see what it had to say about the new job I start tomorrow - looks quite promising!!

Look forward to seeing your website. Bet you're all excited aren't you!

Hi,

The book that comes with these cards is an enchanting story which has helped me, as a beginner, to remember what each card represents.

I love my cards and often take them out just to look at them. Enjoy your new cards, they are lovely. The artwork is gorgeous.

I bought mine in Waterstones after they 'jumped' out at me and I couldn't resist even though I wasn't really looking for tarot cards!

Hi Treacle,

Hope your new job is going well and the card was right :p I'm sure it was!

My website is coming along slowly! Hubby is too busy to help much bless him, but I'm getting there. It's a pretty personal site and not really commercial, more a focus for local readings, talks and charity work.
Hopefully over time it will become a little more professsional! It's a shame but there aren't really any decent/original Tarot (info) sites that are UK based. If there are...I've not come accross them yet. Heaven knows how many commercial ones though!

I did a reading for myself with my new cards today using a suggested layout from the Mystic Faerie book. It was a spread showing a choice of two paths but I struggled interpretating the reading because my thoughts were slightly biased. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share how they would interpret them?
Card 1 represents where I am now. This was 8 of Pentacles.

Path 1 was Strength regarding positive points. King of Swords for negative aspects and Temperance for the probable outcome.

Path 2 was The Hanged Fae for positive, Knight of Pentacles for negative aspects and 5 of Swords for probable outcome.

I find that is the trouble with reading for yourself, you tend to be biased as how you want things to go!
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.:)

Hello Treacle,
Without going into a full reading for you...

I'd suggest that path 1 looks the most favourable? Maybe a little "safe" but the easiest, and one where you will find middle ground and a quieter journey...and destination 🙂

Path 2 speaks to me of stagnation, little happening and something of a plodding way forward, with little to show for anything invested. Apart from perhaps, discord, disharmony and dare I say an element of defeat 🙁

Just my thoughts, what did you make of it Treacle?

Hi Treacle,

I have these cards but have not tried this layout. I take it you mean the Two Paths in the Garden?

I have looked at this and can give you my short interpretation but I suppose the choice of which path to follow depends on the reason you did the reading. Bear in mind also that I am a beginner and don't particularly feel confident about my interpretations yet. Silly? Maybe. I do tend to have a look at other books as well to make sure my own interpretation is along the right lines. I suppose, in time, I won't need the books anymore.

Anyway, here goes!

Path 1.
You have the patience and compassion and inner strength to succeed but don't push too hard. Love and forbearance will see you through. There is a chance of some sort of chaos but if you use logic and fairness this will be sorted out. There is a need for moderation and balance, compromise and cooperation and you will come up with the ideal solution in all areas, physically, mentally and emotional.

Path 2.
The best approach is not always obvious and you may need to follow contradictory moves but you will find what you are looking for, but you may need to hold back a little. Stubbornness and doggedness can be a danger in pursuit of your goals. Ask yourself 'Is this helping?'. There may be a need to put your own interests first. This may mean some hostility but if you consider others as well you will succeed.

Is this anything like the way you interpreted the cards? I realise that several different readings of the same cards can produce several different interpretations but I have found this interesting to do.

I do like the way this layout works as you can add as many paths as you want but, the it could become very complicated. I will try it on myself.

Hi Tarotlady & Mog,

Actually that is pretty close to how I read it. The Hanged Fae confused me for positivity as I tend to read that as a more negative card, giving up something or making the wrong choice?
Having the King of Swords as a negative on path 1, I wondered if he could be showing someone a bit overbearing. 5 of Swords for the outcome, or Temperance - that definitely makes path 1 seem the better choice!
