RE: Let's talk colours
Hi Lightwinds,
have bought a cream cardi thing, and it feels comfy - so maybe just needed a push! thanks!
Also always dress my 3 girls in lilac, pinks and navy/purples (sure they will hate me for it some day!) Have always bought my son clothes in navy`s and green`s, now he is 11 he likes to choose and tends to go for the same as well as reds.
Do you think that`s me projecting my "colour wishes" on to them??
love Sara x:)
RE: Let's talk colours
Hello Sara, no i don't think your kids will hate for the color, you should have seen what my mother put me in[&:] as you said your son chooses
his cloths colors now.....and so will the girls later on in life, they soon change when they start being teenager and tend to follow fashion. You said you like to wear black.............if you all went round in black you would all be called gothic or new ages etc... nothing wrong in that, but you are a mum and mum's like to colour code our kids;)

If you have a problem finding the right paint colour, try Dulux Heritage Colours (which you can now see online - saves a trip to a superstore with a paint mixer where they give the phone number so you can get cards in the mail of these "special" colours). If you prefer "green" (environmentally!) paint, just do a search on that and you'll get links to several makes. Farrow and Ball is just one.
I've used heritage colours for years, as I find the "off the shelf" shades on the crude side for the intense use of colour if you paint 4 walls with it - a bit different from a tee shirt!!!:(
Sarajo
Re your "cream cardi thing" - hope it's keeping you warm in this cold weather. 🙂 This is what my book (details in my post above) says about CREAM:
Colours radiated: “CREAM means investigation; lives in which we have added bits and pieces to our knowledge but not established anything too permanently. Cream people are professionals, possibly in some form of media, who need to meet and move.”
Colours to wear or live with: “CREAM, a neutral colour, is the colour of variety.. A cream person is one who is interested in a wide variety of things – he goes with everything. A room with cream walls can have accessories in almost any other colour.”
RE: Let's talk colours
thanks for that , Holistic and Lightwinds
am back in navy and black again today!

RE: Let's talk colours
Hello Sara, here black
Black
The appearance of Black is an idication that you need to accept your Karma, (good or bad), and learn to move forward with it. Black represents a Challenge or Initiation to be passed by you on your Path. This is where the Art of Transformation is involved. If your are afflicted with poverty, the "challenge" is to tranform the negative into the postive force of prosperity. If you are experiencing sickness or illness, the "challenge" is to transform this negative energy into the positive force of health, and so on, these are but 2 example.
Fear into Faith
Illusion into Truth
A closed Mind into an open Mind
Depression into Enthusiasm
Doubt into Certainty.
And so on.
This is a multi-level color with many hidden meanings, but it is not a color to be feared in any way.
Black is a color a Spiritual Teacher or Guide will wear to show their readiness to accept the Challenge of bringing Light from Darkness in their students. For the color Black represents the Cosmic Womb from which Life and Light is Born.
Navey Blue
This color indicates stern control over the emotions. Detachment and Disciplined thoughts are also represented by this color.
Confidence and Assurance, as well as an a no-nonsence approach to life are attitudes symbolized by this color because this is a color which inspires and represents Authority. Navey Blue is ruled by the planet Saturn which is seen by some as the planet of challenge and karma, but is also seen by others as the planet of Limitation and Restriction, representing an uncaring force which puts obstacles in their path. Too much Navey Blue can cause feelings of isolation, of being too controlled or narrow-visioned. It can have the affect of blocking out the Intuitional aspect of our nature, not allowing this Higher Source to have an input or influence us.
There is also fear of too much emotionalism inherent in the color Navey Blue which allows the repressive tendencies of this color to gain strengh of expression.

RE: Let's talk colours
Hi Wendy - interesting stuff about black and navy... I must say, anyone I know who starts off wearing a lot of black and does inner work always ends up adding more and more colours until black is rarely seen. If I wear black, it's usually for protection and 'don't bother me' moods.
Navy - only time I ever wore navy (apart from school, many many moons ago...) was a few years back when friends persuaded me to buy a suit. Although it looked smart, some months later I took it out of the 'drobe, thought 'Oh no...' and into the charity bag it went! Now most of my clothes are lavender, peach, spring green and azure blue.

RE: Let's talk colours
Hello Wendy
Wonderful synchronicity between your last two posts and my afternoon, the first one on black and navy read soon after my return home and while sitting down with a cup of tea and [sm=cool-smiley-027.gif] (!) All in quotes are yours.
Today I have been wearing a navy sweatshirt with some rather [sm=hippy.gif] -ish patchwork trousers – blues/reds/pinks. I often combine shopping with walking my little old Roly [sm=dogrun.gif] and today I drove down a country lane which ended at a parking area with half a dozen cars round the edge. Slap bang in the middle were dumped two disgusting old sofas – dirty yellow and greasy-looking – yuk! [:'(] Also the twisted remains of a metal five-barred gate, clearly removed from its hinges and vandalised. That’s this bit:
Navey Blue is ….. the planet of Limitation and Restriction, representing an uncaring force which puts obstacles in their path.
You also said:
It can have the affect of blocking out the Intuitional aspect of our nature, not allowing this Higher Source to have an input or influence us.
Yeah, good job, I wouldn’t want to be inside the heads of people who behave in this way, particularly as there is a household recycling centre just three miles down the road from this lovely spot.[sm=banghead.gif]
There is also fear of too much emotionalism inherent in the color Navey Blue which allows the repressive tendencies of this color to gain strengh of expression.
I thought I showed remarkable verbal restraint when I rang the council to tell them about it. Then I went off to do something else, and when I returned to [sm=angry-smiley-035.gif] you’d posted your lovely story for Sara, using all the smileys I was planning on using while doing a reply in my head to your first post. Great minds, eh? [sm=smlove2.gif]
Love,
Laura.
RE: Let's talk colours
I have to say, I adore wearing both black and navy and they suit me and I can dress them up with jewellry and scarves if I wish, and I look and feel smart and confident.
I have done this all my life and I am an outgoing and sociable person, not a wallflower or especially introverted.
Much is said against these colours, but frankly, I don't follow this at all.

RE: Let's talk colours
Hi All
I have avoided this thread because i just don't feel i can do the wonderful world of colour justice . My limited vocab can't express my love of colour ALL colour. Its easier to name those colours I try to avoid rather than those i seek out because there are less of them.
I'm not a great fan of dark blues tho they have their place nor black. I love ALL shades & tones of Purple,, the lilacs, the lavendars, you name it. The same with Blues but not really darker than Royal blue. I love the Oranges & Yellows the Greens & some browns The Pinks. I love Metalic colours. I love how colour can be played with & shades of one be bled into another I.e From pink to purple to blue sure you get the picture. I love rainbows.
Colours have a profound efftect on my at times in that I might see a colour & crave it For example when I was giving out the medicines at work, I came across a blister pack that was the most beautiful vibrant metalic blue, I was totally mesmerised by it I couldnt take my eyes off it & longed to just absorb the colour I wanted to ingest it. I was so upset that this couldnt be so. See I love it all except RED!!![:'(] only shades of red i like are Maroons & Burgandys. Funny really tho I will never wear Red but my children do & I have to admit it suites them
Any way hope the above hasn't made you think i'm mad but I just Luuuuuuurve colour
Walk gently in love light & peace Maria xx

hi wendy

RE: Let's talk colours
My limited vocab cant express my love of colour ALL colour.
Well, I think you've done a pretty good job, Maria!!! A lovely post, and very well put. As you've just joined in, I'll risk repeating myself and say that I love all shades in the indigo/blue/violet/pink spectrum. Also turquoise. And I hope you'll stay.:)
Like Gilly, I also sometimes wear navy and black, but alleviated with white or cream or a bright colour. Dreadful for showing up the dog hairs, though, especially on the velvety fabrics I adore.[&o]
Brian, you're right, it's been a great thread. I've saved all the interpretations as we've gone along, but it was only when it was "renewed" recently that I realised the Word doc had got lost in the changeover to my new PC. Fortunately I was able to retrieve it from the old one. 🙂
My food shopping yesterday consisted of peach, salmon and raspberry - literally!!! Well, it's good for me/on special offer/it's the weekend/I deserve it 😀
Laura.
RE: Let's talk colours
I decorated my bedroom end of last summer and it is basically lilac walls with a pale pink ceiling, lilac curtains and even a lilac duvet! Most of my furniture in my room is black as I bought it years ago, but more recent furniture i.e. my new wardrobe is maple or beech coloured.
Anyway, regarding clothes, I tend to wear very neautral colours such as stone, light brown, black, white and sometimes grey. Most of it is what I wear at work. Suppose it's earthy tones.[sm=boring.gif]
I hate green though [:'(] I won't wear green and I'm not a fan of pink, although I do have 2 pink tops I love. I like pastel colours as well. Anyway, I'm trying to lose weight at the moment and when I (eventually) reach my target, I think I might have a major chuck out of all the clothes I don't want and restock my wardrobe.;)

I love green, most shades of green, it reminds me of healing and peace, and outdoors, i also adore copper, havnt a clue why but i do. And earthy autumn colours.
Guess what star sign i am hehe 😉
RE: Let's talk colours
Oh and Im not a big fan of purple. And I cant stand the colour blue. Especially not on walls. Funnily enough i love the colour blue in nature. I love water features, rivers streams brooks and i often admire their colour. I also love the colour turqoise i just cant get away with blues in a home. I find them very cold and offputting. I cant stay in a blue room for long. It grates on me and i get a very unpleasant feeling. Its probably one of my less favourite colours. Although one of my favourite times of day if not my favourite is twilight. I think nobody can match natures colour palette really. Especially not natures hues of blue.
Lol x
RE: Let's talk colours
Ah, good question, |Lightwinds, what do colours mean to you.
Well, Green is not a colour I choose to wear or have in my house, but to me it represents all forms of nature, green hill, plants, trees. All the greens I love are outside.
Red means power, and warmth and sociability and fun.
Yellow means sunshine and brightness and glory.
Pink to me is an excellent colour, very soft and gentle and full of love.
Grey is calming, sophisticated and thought provoking.
Blues of all kinds I adore, to me they are the endless sky, the Universal colour, the colour of thought and wisdom.
Browns represent the earth and are therefore fruitful and productive.
Lilac is a special favourite, it is shy, peaceful and gentle.
Purple is bold and sometimes outrageoous.
White is purity of course and also healing.
Black is for the healing which comes with a night's sleep.
Turquoise is more powerful than it appears at first, and not a colour to be taken lightly.
Orange is my least favourite - it is too bold and brassy and respesents things that are too harsh and over the top.
Love Gillyxxx

RE: Let's talk colours
Colours, what colour are you wearing today? Do you know we eat colour, we grow colour, we change are hair colour, are skin colour etc..
Opal
The color Opal at first appears to be a cloudy milk-whit, but if you look closely, you will see a hidden fire at its heart. Sometimes this heart of fire is composed of yellows, golds, reds, and oranges. In other opals, this heart of fire is composed of greens, blue and golds, symbolizing a seething activity ensuing behind the seanes, hidden away from prying eyes. It is a color of gestation, where "seeds" are forming, changing shape, altering their molecular structure, getting ready to be transformed into something wondrous to behold. These Opal provides the protection needed by these "seeds" from outside influence or distraction. This color or the gemstone itself often appears in Dreams or during Meditation.
Copper.
The best way to describe this color would be to say Copper is a Pinkish Bronze, with a little Peach Gold mixed in. Copper is an electrical color in that it serves as a channel or conductor for energy. In Atlantis, many of the "Light Wands" were constructed of Copper Metal with crystal placed at both ends to focus the energy harnessed by the metal from the indivdual working with the Wand.
The color Copper represents Channeled Energy with limitless potentials and possibilities. How one uses that energy is, in itself, a Spiritual Test or Initiation.
written by Marilyn Jean Enners.
Will add a few more soon.

Ooooh what a great thread.
I have a thing at the moment for Lavendar, just painted the kitchen in it and want to paint our lobby as well. Would paint the whole flat in it if I could at the mo.
Got a nice bright yellow in the bedroom as well.
RE: Let's talk colours
Hi, Ithar, yes green is a lovely colour as it reminds me of Mother Earth country side.
I'll put Evergreen
There is a special meaning to this color for it represents the Evergreen Tree which is the highest envolved plant on the planet. The Evergreen Tree retains it's color throught all the seasons and dose not have a dormant state which others tree have in winter. These particular trees store energy. If you stroke your finger gently along the braches od an Evergreen tree you will feel an unusual tingle begin in your hands and spread up your arms. When this happens, the tree is transferring some of the energy it has stored to you. What you do with this energy is your choice. The energy itself has limitless potential, both of a postive or negative manifestation.
The color itself symbolizes creative energy, a power to be utilized in constructive ways. Evergreen is also the color of endurance, of generosity, of faith and strengh against all opposition. It is the color of triumph and attainment.
Hello Tilltp, lovely spiritual color Lavendar, will put it up later.
Yellow
Yellow is the color the 3rd Chakra Center which deals with clear thinking, studying, and all learning. It is called the " Solar Plexus Center". Yellow indicates intelligence, the Active Mind, and Joy. This color also represents Enlightenment and Intergrity.
