Haven't a clue! I do Reiki too and so far have only seen one aura quite spontaneously a couple of years ago. Suspect it's another case of 'when you're ready'.........

I've been lucky enough to see auras pretty quickly - probably aided by my short-sightedness!

Basically all I do is first, take off my glasses(!) - I can't help but be a little out of focus looking at someone a few feet away. I'm sure its still possible when you have perfect sight, but you will need to 'defocus' your eyes.

With the person sat before you (not wearing strong colours) and a white background behind them, concentrate on their forehead area (while remembering to defocus)

I know that many people who are more gifted or more practiced than I acn see auras instantly, but I have to have my subject completely still - it then takes a few minutes for the aura to become apparent.

The first thing you will notice will be a sort of brighter afterimage around the person. I only practice on one person at the moment, so I can only give limited advice from here - I tend to see a turquoise colour above her head next, then there is a gradual realisation of pinky blue, which moves in waves. I then get waves of gold/green generally centering around the person, though sometimes to one side, and get a rippling effect which can appear anywhere, but which tends to appear after she has asked her guardian angels to show themselves! Whenever she concentrates on healing the gold/green appears to one side together with the rippling, so it appears that her healing spirit is on her right hand.

It took me quite some time to get to this position - the first few times all I got was the afterimage and perhaps some blue, but just keep at it and I'm sure it'll come.

I'm sure in time what I've written here will seem naive as I know I'm progressing even now(I've started to get lightening flashes and orbs recently - still working out what that's all about!) - I don't yet get different strata of colours and everything seems a lot busier than the way it appears in books, but I guess as long as you stick with it you'll get something in a way you perceive it

You make a good point. I can't see them yet (only white) but it is about de-focusing. You actually have to look past the person to see them, but I think once you get it then it comes. A friend of mine sees them all the time.

I have also started to see flashes of colours when I am doing treatments. They started as bright blue sparks around my hands and recently I have seen great swatches(?) of blue, almost like lightening but in great slices.

I am not trying, it is just happening and so will let it go ahead and see what happens next.

The only thing I would say is that everybody has different coloured auras so I find it unusual that you see the same colours. Also, a person's aura will change throughout the day and depending upon their mood, health etc.

There's a simple explanation for getting similar colours - I'm only practicing on one person as yet! I want to be a little more sure of myself before I start on others

As to there being a variation in auras - I get great differences in size/ intensity & movement, but as yet no extra colours - but as I say its early days. I can see great differences from when I started and expect that things will progress further as I get more proficient(I hope)

That sounds facinating seeing flashes around your hands, but I expect we should expect it - my friend and I are looking into starting Reiki soon so hopefully we should be able to experience something similar

hi all,
there is an article in my site, that explains how to see an aura, and how to read an aura! (in the development link)

Seeing peoples aura is a blessing, but sometimes, you feel as if you are invading a persons personal space, as you can see imeditately when they are lying, or ill, or sad etc.........
A handy thing to have though if you are a healer or medium/psychic!

I think Aura's are fascinating, and the other week when i went on my workshop to Hawkwood College we were told how to try and see them, i managed to see bits of Aura's on a couple of people which really excited me, i saw green and yellow on acouple of people and next to one lady who was a complimentary therapist i saw a rainbow effect.

I went to a large karate meet this week - both my kids do karate and wanted to meet the head of the school, the Kancho, who had flown in especially from Australia.

After the initial bowing down etc, he gathered all his students to sit around him, while he sat on a chair among them, while he told them of his philosophies on life.

From previous photos of him, he always appeared fierce[:@], so I was pleasantly surprised by this gentle man, who explained he'd just beaten cancer after a four year battle by using 'alternative therapies'. He gave a lovely talk about the power of the mind, & how we should be more open to things which are perhaps not mainstream (a man after my own heart!)

While he was there, as we we all focussing on him, I realised I had my first opportunity of looking at a group aura - so having taken off my specs(!) I focussed for a while then saw it - wow, the energy in that room was amazing. There were enormous swirling clouds of colour, pinks and blues especially. Around the Kancho appeared to be mostly green, which I believe reflected his gentle caring nature, though may also have been linked to is recent cancer battle. Around that appeared to be a gold haze, which is supposed to indicate someone who leads, generally spiritually.

...and I can't tell you how much energy I picked up from the black belt guy when he was doing his grading - I wasn't looking at auras then, just concentrating hard, when I felt an influx of energy so hard I twitched - I was fine once they'd pealed me off the ceiling through.[sm=rollaugh.gif]

I started seeing the aura of one of my case studies whilst I was training to be a Reflexologist. That was a lovely experience for me, as the colour I saw was the most beautiful shade of turquoise. I still treat the same client and always have no problems seeing her aura, other clients, not as good. But I live in hope that my experiences get better as I go along. Your right about de-focusing your eyes!

You know when you say you "see" colours, is that really seeing actual colour or just sensing it???!!! I still haven't cracked this one!!!![&o]

I don't know about anyone else (I think we all perceive things in our own way) but I see the actual colour - so, for instance, I see a sort of background colour of pinky blue, though this is a continually moving cloud, interspersed with an absence of colour - and it is when this absence of colour moves across the subject that I can see their personal aura - though as I practice more I am able to see colours more distinctly associated with the subject all the time

I still don't get the layers that are reported by other people, as the colours I see are dynamic and fluctuate, and tend to be singular, or at most one superimposed on another. I also see 'concentrations' of colour/energy in different places and sometimes a shimmering ( which are sometimes absent, or can move around or remain still) which I associate with the persons guides being present - so we always say hello and thank them for showing themselves!

If seeing colours doesn't work for you don't be disheartened - my friend who is travelling the path with me has been unable to see auras too but is able to feel energy instead and so in my eyes is equally blessed (as are we all!)

I have actually taken the plunge and tried to see a second persons aura, other than my friend. In this case the persons aura looked tiny, and if I hadn't had previous experience I would have missed it or dismissed it as after-image, so from my (tiny) sample it would appear some peoples auras are easier to read than others, which backs up the experience of Hawkwind in the aura workshop.

So... I would say try out your sight on lots of different things, like plants in your house, trees outside,yourself in the mirror and as many people as will sit still for you -eventually I'm sure you will get something - just try to be aware of any different or unusual sensation which may be your way of perceiving the energy field.

In all the aura books I've read they say that everyone will be able to see an aura if they stick with it long enough - I'd say that was a recipe for disillusionment and self doubt - don't worry about seeing things the way anyone tells you to see them, just enjoy what you perceive - its as valid as anyone elses experience - and if nothing else you'll be developing your concentration levels, even if you will get watery eyes!

The best thing to is just not force it - I sometimes find myself trying to make it happen when it takes a while for the colour to appear - but its only once I have realised this and just relax and let whatever is to happen happen, that the colours come in strong and clear

can't remember where i read it but if you hold your hands in a well-lit room in front of a dark surface, eg by the door out into a dark corridor, and defocus you can see your aura. My eyesight is pretty good so I don't get such a great view... just a soft blue glow (1st layer) around my hands that adjusts as i move them towards and away from each other.

Hi, yes i saw colour one lady had yellow around her while another i saw green and another lady i saw rainbow stripes above her right shoulder, I practice looking at the trees at the bottom of my garden, i can see bright blue around the Oaks.

I can see just a white glow around the head mostly, then when my client talks or gets animated, I catch different colours. I dont wear glasses (yet!!) but I find it helps if I de-focus or slightly scrunch my eyes up. Sometimes helps if I rock from side to side a bit too! This sounds mad I know. I hope I can eventually see just a fraction of the stuff you lot are seeing![sm=cat.gif]

I practice on my mams plants, i seem to be able to see plant auras a lot more easily than human ones at the moment 😀

Since I was a child I was able to defocus my eyes and see colours. Usually I see floating colours in different shapes.

I tried to see my aura today and my fiances...both times I got a thick very bright pale blue colour and I was able to move my hand slowly around the wall without losing focus.
Does anyone know what I am seeing? is this the etheric aura? I read the etheric aura is white with a tinge of blue... but I got a very bright sky blue colour with me and my fiance.
I tried to keep defocused and wait to see if more layers would reveal themselves but I am finding this challenging. I'll keep trying, but if anyone has any idea what I may be seeing and can help I'd be grateful.
