Please someone tell me what this means....
It is very rarely the exact same circumstance but always the same theme....
I am being cut of by the sea.
For example one dream i am down on the beach and the tide starts coming in and there are just cliffs behind me and i cant escape.
And have had this dream loads
Anyone know ?
Hi Lisa and welcome to Healthypages,
One of the things with dreams and what they mean is that they can mean different things to different people (hence why I wouldn't just go by what any book tells you).
Often the answer lies in your own question, and you are in fact the best person to answer it.
So, some things for you to consider...
What does the beach mean to you? (how does it make you feel? does it have any special significance in your life now or in the past?)
Is there something in your life that you feel is closing in on you like the sea?
Is there something in your life that you feel you can't escape from, physically or metaphorically speaking?
How would you interpret your dream, knowing what you know about yourself and what these feelings mean to you?

Another way is to focus on the feelings associated with the dream, not in too analytical a way but just try to sense what feelings it brings up.
Hi Lisa, I get exactly the same thing being on the beach tide coming in cannot get back off the beach going to the sides/rock walls but not finding the way out, its very scary luckily i dont get them much, i know how you feel as for an analysis ive know idea hope you get rid of it though 🙂
about dream
actually we can't say anything about dream. because it happens only when we are in deep sleep. you can't show anyone what you had seen . again you can't describe it properly and you can't remember it for a long time. so dreams are just dream.
Hi mclark and welcome to Healthypages,
so dreams are just dream.
That's a bit of a vague statement and sort of says that we should just ignore dreams and they have no meaning.
From a scientific perspective dreams are believed to be a manifestation of the mind organising the days memories into deeper memory, and in doing so it is associating the days memories with older ones, thus bringing things/people, whatever, up from our memories and because these are brought up they are sensed in the visual cortex and perceived as a dream. Based on this, a dream can actually show us how things that are 'current' (to use the term loosely) in our life are related to us and thus highlight fears, issues, or other aspects of ourselves, which can itself be useful in recognising our present state of affairs and thus we can choose to act and deal with things as necessary.
I'd say that dreams are anything but just being dreams.

I'm interested in the comment that you can't describe dreams properly. In a sense this is true because they are beyond language. And yet despite this if you try to describe them in a stream of consciousness, non logical sort of way you can get a bit closer to them.
Last night I dreamt that I was the green man! A very strange dream that I can't even begin to describe but it has a good feeling associated with it 🙂
