i was hoping someone would be able to help me identify my daughter's starsign? she was born on wednesday 23rd september 2009 at 1.38am. i presumed she would be a libra, however, some sites say she is a virgo. (went to astro.com, typed in her details and it says that her sun sign was in libra at the time of her birth so i've been presuming she is libra) she must be on the cusp, but i was wondering if anyone knew what starsign she is for definite? if she is on the cusp, would that mean she has personality traits from both signs?
i'm also hoping to get a birth chart done for my daughter but don't know were to start. if i look online i can only find places in america, and i'm in england. does anyone have an idea of how accurate birth charts are? I would love to have an idea of her personality as she grows and also what she may excel in as a career.
thank you in advance 🙂
hi.
I use alabe.com to get charts calculated.
I used London as the place of birth
It comes up as Libra there too.
It will move one degree for each year of her life, so by the time she is 30 her sun sign will have progressed to Scorpio.
When you ask how accurate charts are, what do you mean?
To me a chart does not prophecy the future, it can show tendencies, and latent gifts and talents.
It can also show when life may be more challenging .
tigress
hi tigress,
thank you so much for the reply.
when i said how accurate, i meant are they a good way of showing how a person's personality may develop through different stages of life, what talents the person may have etc... basically what you said!
i have just had a look at the site that you posted a link to and it was really interesting, so thank you again.
i was hoping i could send away for a professional birth chart for my daughter. if anyone could recommend somewhere i would be very grateful.
Hi Pisces Mum,
I've PM'ed you with the details of a really good friend of mine who will be able to help you out.
Cheers, Sue
there are many variables in a chart, however the sun sign is a great place to start.
Do you have any Libran friends? what traits and qualities do you notice about them?
Also you could have a look at some books that explore the Libran nature, and help your daughter to polish those.
She may have a love of beauty and get upset if things seem unfair...stuff like that
tigress
sue - i'm unable to receive PM's at the minute until i've been active on the forum for a few days so i will take a look when it comes through. thank you very much 🙂
tigress - i will have a think about which of my friends/family are libran. i'm assuming that because my daughter is on the cusp that she may have some virgo traits too?
I have used astrology for 26 years. To me, during an analysis of a birthchart it is an error to pay too much attention to the 'Sun sign'; far greater significance is weighed out throughout the whole chart; the key strongest aspects between the planets, the four 'corners', the rising sign - and what planets are present in the 1st,4th,7th and 10th houses together with the aspects these make with one another. Sadly the media has conditioned our society into a 'astrology is just sun signs' mentality - when the reality is SO much more. The Sun is a valid and critical component - but on its own it is relatively weak when perceiving a personality. I have learnt to study as an order of priority:
a) what are the key planetary aspects (ie the measure of degrees between planets - 30,45,60,90,120,150 & 180* being the most significant). Some aspects 'speak louder' than others...
b) What is the rising sign (aka Ascendant sign) and what planets are either in the first house or make aspect to the ascendant.
c) What sign is on the MC (aka 10th house cusp) and what planets are either in the 10th house or make aspects to the MC.
d) Where are the Sun & Moon in the houses and what planets aspect them...
Only after this might I actually pay attention to which sign the Sun occupies...
There is a vast variety of information available within a birthchart - and when this is taken further to the 'current day' through the 'Progressions' system as mentioned by Tigress (a day equalling a year so at age 30 a chart is calculated for exactly 30 days after the birth time) extraordinary insight can be gained into the life of the individual. Add to that - the transit chart (ie of any given time) and between the three charts you can easily see patterns and correlations that reflect events in the life of the individual as it unfolds. Through this 'triple chart' I know it is possible through astrology to predict an event to within a few minutes of it happening months or even years in advance; I have done so many times - it can take your perception of 'reality' to a level at which you can perceive there is a definite purpose behind all events in all our lives.
You can go further still and consider the motions and positions of the major asteroids... I once did a chart many years ago which didn't seem to 'click' to the event in the woman's life at the time... but then I found she had a natal asteroid exactly on her ascendant and it all began to make sense...
Another curious reality is that on converse progressions; where one includes the data of time before birth (ie 30 days before birth for 30 yrs old); I haven't done that myself but I have know others that worked successfuly with it.
The most conclusive astrology is that of rectification. Here the astrologer is given the date and place of birth but no time. Through events in the person's life and their known dates (& if possible their times on those dates) the seasoned astrologer can not only come up with the correct time of birth but go further and predict events in the person's future by such a defined birthtime. If ever any sceptic were to doubt real astrology - they'd be at a loss as to explain such circumstances! However - few astrologers can be bothered with 'proving' the subject to closed minds - they have better things to do with their time...
Study of the 'real' astrology is a meritable and fascinating project; but be warned - once you hit the first few 'awakening bells' (where you realize it DOES work) from thereon it can be addictive... I know of one case where someone actually divorced their partner because of his obsession with astrology!
Everytime I hear these 'pseudo-astrologers' on radio shows I just change the channel or switch it off - there is absolutely no point in listening to their gibberish - they are quoting only sunsign astrology and given that every single person on Earth is different and has a different birthchart (even twins cannot be born at the exact same time) - their advice is utterly absurd.
Pisces Mum, I calculate the Sun at 00 degrees, 8 minutes and 28 seconds inside Libra for your daughter. She is 'Libra' in Sunsign terminolgy. However you don't mention where in the Uk she was born - and thus her ascendant / rising sign / birthchart can vary considerably.

apollo, thank you so much for your interesting post. it's such a complex but fascinating subject.
she was born in liverpool, england.
would the place of birth have an effect on her sunsign? what effect does the place of birth have on the birth chart in general?
hi,
we only need the place of birth to determine the chart, so I picked London, as you said she was born in England.
A good place for you to begin is to play with Libran qualities, thats why I suggested you observe Libran friends, so you develop your own awareness and do not rely only on books.
As you get more interested you can then go on to explore your daughter's rising sign.
The rising sign is not connected to the city/town in England where she was born
tigress
I use Astocalc and definitely Libra but with Mercury, Saturn and Venus in Virgo, she will have Virgoan qualities. It is a very interesting chart, at a quick glance I'm seeing a T-square, a grand trine in water and almost a finger of fate as planetary configurations.
A good book to start with is Parkers Astrology.
And yes, use an astrologer, don't bother with the computerised analyses.
Regards
Edited to add her rising sign is Leo and her moon is in Scorpio

would the place of birth have an effect on her sunsign? what effect does the place of birth have on the birth chart in general?
The place of birth has no bearing on the sun sign; but for those that don't know - let's analyse that... If you draw a circle and divide it equally into 12, each segment has 30 degrees. The zodiac is the circle and the each 30 degree section is a sign. The sun is said to travel through each sign while moving forwards and spends about a month in each sign. However the facts are different: the sun actually stays still. The constellations actually stay still - only we on Earth - move...
While we sit on this spinning and slowly 'wobbling' Earth, as we look out into the sky we see the turning of the Earth in reflection with the stars seemingly in motion - but it is the other way around - we move while they stay still.
Therefore when the sun is said to be in Libra for instance, it is only perceived as such because, looking from Earth, the sun appears to be in the 'back drop' of the segment of Libra.
Wherever you are on Earth will make no difference to this perception in principle; the place of birth is irrelevant in determining what sign the sun appears to be in.
The place of birth does however determine the chart houses and angles. Being born in London will give you one set of house cusps and being born elsewhere gives you another set. The ascendant or first point of the rising sign is just one of 12 points that make up the houses. Explaining how the houses are calculated would take some time. However the subject as a whole is not really anywhere near as difficult as it was to learn... Now you can get a chart in seconds with a cheap program for a pc; when I learned - calculators had only just begun to enter the scene and log tables were still being used! There were no pc's in those days and all work was done / drawn by hand... now its very simple - so for beginners now - its only really the theory you learn the maths can be calculated for you...:)

tigress, tucker and apollo - thank you! you've been a great help.
