Hi
Just saw this article on-line about the Chinese capturing a Yeti. Strange looking Yeti - not that I have ever seen a Yeti of course.
Best Wishes

😮 How very extraordinary! The poor thing doesn't look too happy, does it? Perhaps as it's bald they'll give it a nice blanket to sit on. 😉
Actually I did wonder if the date on the article was just a few days out , but the Telegraph's title line into Google shows that it's all over the internet.
Holistic
Why on earth don't they return it to its home , and leave it alone.
The poor thing is in all likelihood a one-off mutation that survived. The Chinese aren't great at animal welfare, (unless it's a panda); I do hope it is treated humanely. As Laura says, they could at least give it something soft to sit on.
Sadly I expect it will end up on a plate!
Apparently they are sending it off to a laboratory for DNA testing. That poor little creature, I'm sure it is terrified.
I am horrified! Poor creature looks terrified and for something so rare taken away from its environment (what about its famly?) and sent to a laboratory in Beijing is just awful. What's wrong with keeping it where it is and observing it there? - after DNA testing if necessary. I doubt it will last long poor thing.

I hesitate to generalise but in general I wonder if Asian peoples are less empathic than we are in the west where animal suffering is concerned.:( I say this because I have noticed during my long stays in India that people who are concerned with animal welfare are few and far between. Even those who have dogs don't seem as fond of them as we would, though of course there are always exceptions to this. Perhaps it's just that a lot of people there are more concerned with, for instance, feeding their own families and have little compassion to spare for animals.

Absolutely agree with you there... I've spent many years in the Far East and frequently found people there generally speaking, have a different regard for domestic animal and wildlife welfare.
It does look like either a mutated bear or perhaps more sinister a thought would be a genetic hybrid; a bear with mouse genes...
A.
It is a pretty weird looking creature. That's hope it is being looked after properly. Yes I agree that Asians have different welfare standards. My experience of SE Asia is if the animal has value it does get looked after. But having said that there is plenty of court cases in this country on animal cruelty. But I'm slowly going off topic.
Anycase, who knows what out there waiting to be discovered. A lot of Asia is still very much remote.
He's question for you all: should such animals be scientifically investigated or should we leave alone and allow a certain mystery in life?
Best Wishes

Let's face it. It's a weird creature and I hope it gets well-treated. But it's nothing to do with 'Yeti'. That misnomer brought it to global attention - which may well have just helped keep it alive?

Oh, yes. Because this wasn't in South America, the whole subject of the chupacabra never occurred to me. Interesting! But the chupacabra, in various encounters, hasn't only exhibited the appearance of an undiscovered mammal, but also paranormal activity, and in some minds has somehow been related to UFOs, though I confess I forget the details of why. It'd be interesting to get a DNA test on this creature for sure, if the Chinese are scientific and humane enough to keep it alive.

agree with you lots. saw the picture yesterday and was shocked at how terrified and hurt it looks. Im also outraged they re sending it straight to a lab for testing. we would never do that to a human, it is this never-ending human shortightness that sees itself as seperate and above other species, when all animals see us as another animal species...
It s not a yeti and frankly that s the last important thing on the agenda. what matters is that they ve found a animal, that it looks very unwell and should be looked after.
I hope some day we will look at societies in the light of the way they treat animals. I certainly cant connect deep down with people who have no empathy for animals.
The creature this thread is about may turn out as people have said to be a strangely mutated mammal. We'll have to wait and see. But the discovery of the creature sort-of reminded me of a case in Italy in the 1990s. Here are some photos, and yes, I know they are poor and prove nothing of themselves:
However this was a 'creature' seen over several days and nights in a small Italian village. There was a clear alien-being aspect since it had cables sort of coming out of and going back into parts of its body, as if pumping fluids. It was very clearly badly burned, so obviously one can speculate upon its being the victim of a crash. Many in the remote Italian village saw it, but only one man thought to take a camera out one night. There are interviews with witnesses elsewhere on the internet, and published in books. After a few nights it wasn't seen anymore.
It may well not be related to the creature of this thread, but I thought I'd mention it.
Again, sure, the photos prove nothing. But witness interviews are very interesting, and convincing. Nobody ever made, or sought to make, profit from the photos. All you see in the photos are poor renditions of what looks as though it could be a simple fake, but the villagers say it was around for a few days, and could move (though apparently injured) at great speed. It also seemed to be bandaged in parts.

I believe the Chupracabra are also reported to have the ability to fly. This poor creature just looks like a crossbreed to me.
Though I have read that story of the alien in Italy and do believe it, the pictures look like a bad alien model made at a school lol!
Wow! I never heard of it before! But it doesn’t look happy. What a poor thing though. 🙁

That’s the sad thing about it. Why don’t they just leave it alone. Every creature just wants to live. 🙁
Probably dead by this time ...
Probably dead by this time ...
Yeah, there is a probability. But i hope not 🙁
However, bear in mind that one of the things that makes our view of animals different from the average Chinese view is that we haven't spent large parts of out history starving.

Well said my friend 🙂
