RE: Yale University Society

Hi,

I was involved in the exposure of S & B in the 1980s (mainly), and a friend of the most important person to 'out' them - the late Dr. Anthony Sutton whose series of books on them did the trick and forced Bush Snr. to grudgingly admit membership after a long battling correspondence with us.

S & B "on campus" are not a powerful secret society - that's just where and how they are recruited. At that stage they're just Boston uni kids. S & B after Yale is certainly powerful, yes. The most powerful in the world? That's hard to call as there are a number of other secretive societies, primarily to do with finance and banking.

Bear with me ;)- I'm just looking at the wording here to suggest changes. 'Secret'? Well, basically S & B still is in what it does etc., but 20 years ago they were truly secret in the sense that they were unknown to almost anybody. Now their full membership list is out there in print! :D(No, they're not happy about that...)

Finally, not an 'ancient' mystery (where you've posted it)I guess, since they began in 1832. But they've played a huge part in 19th, 20th, and now 21st century history, yes. Which is a long story.

Edit to add: Hang on! Clinton wasn't Skull and Bones at all. Was he even Yale?? S & B were probably very frustrated during his times in office.

S & B have usually been the prime advosors to some Presidents, rarely the President himself as per the Bush family. Incidentally, John Kerry, the Democrat'challenger' to Bush last time is also Skull and Bones. Both Kerry and Bush refused outrightto the media to discuss their membership, but the fact is whichever won, it would have been S & B. Just amazing that the American media didn't pick up more on that. (But then who owns much ofthe U.S. media?)

RE: Yale University Society

OK, thanks. He wasn't (and isn't) initiated into Skull and Bones, but then that isn't the end of the matter. S & B are the most powerful secret society for Yale graduates, but there are 2-3 secondary ones such as Scroll and Key. I didn't know Clinton was at Yale at all - since he was I'd bet he was in one of those. The info will be out there on the net probably, but what he joined will be called a 'college society' which is what Bonesmen try to make out S & B is.

So, yes, hard to get away from these guys. However could the USA get another Abe Lincoln?

Things are less controlled in the UK. John Major, Prime Minister in the 1990s, only had a couple of GCSEs, which are a minor school qualification earned at 16! Few of our recent PMs have already been in any shady society.

A fellow student at school mentioned to me the Queen of England is also a member, yet I have yet to see it confirmed.

RE: Yale University Society

:DNo, only members of of Yale, and until very recently only whitemales. Your friend may be picking up on books such asthose of David Ickewho believes that all kinds of people are in "The Illuminati" - and actually believes our Royal Family are reptiles in disguise. Really. [&:]

Just a few years back there was said to be a split among Skull and Bones between the elder statesmen who wanted WASPS only, and the latest, youngrecruits. Surprisingly the youngsters seem to have won out, and now a token Jew (from Yale), a token girl, maybe even a token gay can be chosen for "tapping" - which is when they're told they're chosen.

P.S. I've no idea how they handle having a token girl at the initiation ceremonies, given their nature and content... enough said!

The movie "The Good Shepard" attempts to give a look into Skull and Bones, I don't know how well its researched but they depict it as coming before God and Country.

RE: Yale University Society

just wanted to add....

The society was all male until 1992.
Traditionally, the [link= http://www.answers.com/topic/yale-daily-news ]Yale Daily News[/link] published the names of newly "tapped" members of all major secret societies at Yale, but this practice was abandoned during the student rebellion of the sixties. It has since been reinstated informally by the campus tabloid [link= http://www.answers.com/topic/rumpus-magazine ]The Rumpus[/link].

and...

By reputation, "Boners" tapped the current football and heavyweight rowing captains as well as notables from the [link= http://www.answers.com/topic/yale-daily-news ]Yale Daily News[/link] and Yale Lit before the 1970s. However, the group's decision, after much dispute, to admit women eventually diversified the membership. Numerous undergraduate constituencies are better represented among the recently-tapped membership compared to the cohorts, or delegations, that included the [link= http://www.answers.com/topic/william-h-taft ]27th[/link], [link= http://www.answers.com/topic/george-bush ]41st[/link] and [link= http://www.answers.com/topic/george-w-bush ]43rd[/link] [link= http://www.answers.com/topic/president-of-the-united-states-1 ]Presidents of the United States[/link].

and if your interested [link= http://www.answers.com/topic/list-of-skull-and-bones-members ]List of Skull and Bones Members [/link]

HTH

Ada

edited to add that if you go to the list the latest dates are 1984 - so you dont know who is in it after that period of time....was curious to see the list of women.......

RE: Yale University Society

Hi Ada,

I'm not really focussed right now on S & B, as I'm a bit busy, but 1984? No, :D. The membership is well-known after that date. Do a google search. These days, there are even books publishing the whole membership list.

I think the importance of S & B is at least half-concerned with their effect on past history re the USA and in fact the world. Now they are "outed" I am not sure what their future will be. Probably to become something else, so S & B will in future be a meaningless front perhaps. The real elite will be found partially elsewhere.

But at core, their membership is now well-known way past 1984! That's later than I even found it. 😉

Read 'The Gods of Eden' by William Bramley: This is full of secret societies and who is behind them all. It is fascinating reading, even has The Count of St. Germain in it.
