Hi,
Last sunday I was in Devon between Okehampton and Exeter...
We went off the main road looking for a country pub for lunch, and an Old Fashioned White Junction Sign caught my eye - it had a Templar Cross.
I thought nothing of it, and then a few minutes later we had to reverse back to let a car pass, and as we tucked the car into verge, there was a very small wooden door, maybe 100cm in height set into a concrete wall. Again, it had a large engraved Templar Cross with an insciption (couldnt read it from the car). Then I saw another wall with a Templer Cross... and a cottage called Templar Way Cottage.
We agreed to have lunch and come back and have a good look. Couldnt bloody find them! We were very close to Castle Drogo and Fingle Bridge.
I love the story of the Tempars, and was so excited.
I just wonder if anyone knows of any templar / masonic symbols in their area?
Im hoping to go back on sunday to have another look!
RE: Templar Crooss
Sounds interesting Mark. I know very little about the Templars in Britain unfortunately, as most of my reasearch has been centred around their activities in France, where of course the movement began. No sites that I am aware of then in my immediate area, although of course there are loads in London.

RE: Templar Crooss
Mark, the Templars had quite a bit of land and were prolific in that part of the England. There are places named after their preceptories such as Temple Ewell, Templecombe etc. There is a very good book called the The Knights Templar in Britain by Evelyn Lord which details a lot of their activities and has ledgers and historical rolls on them. Very good read and its available on Amazon.
I don't live far from a small Templar church here in Kent and you'll find they are "dotted" all around the country.
Hope this helps
Sue
