RE: face of an extinct human speices?
A keen-eyed archaeologist claims to have found some of the oldest artwork ever - carved faces 200,000 years old.
The human images were found in 2001 by Pietro Gaietto on an expedition through the Borzonasca district of Italy.
He claims the rock has been sculpted into faces that look in opposite directions; one is bearded with what Gaietto calls an "expressive face".
If this is genuine, the artist would have been an extinct human species that died out about 150,000 years ago.

Very interesting docyabout
Never heard of those species.
Thank you for keeping us informed about these findings i was also very happy with the article about the warrior woman wich i hope changes the way people think about the role of woman in the old days.
Keep those posts coming in please!
RE: face of an extinct human speices?
make no mistake, homo erectus was NOT human, hence being called homo erectus instead of human. There is a great difference between the two. Humans have only been around a short time in comparison. Homo sapien has only been around approx 30'000-40'000 years by current understanding.
RE: face of an extinct human speices?
I don`t believe in aliens, however could a species of a fish or reptile evolve into a human sooner. Evolution states we came from a fish, a mouse, a monkey and then mutated into human 7million years ago. however life began 300 million years. In all that time could there have been a another aquatic being that excisted. They say we came from a water ape, however we have more aguatic features then the present day ape .

Thanks, Doceyabout!
Great article! In response to your last question, though, I guess ANYTHING is likely. I tend to refrain from discounting anything as impossible. My personal intuition tells me that humanoid beings of some type inhabited this planet LONG before what the Scientists yet know about. I think it's wonderful that all these new discoveries are being made to help fill in the blanks, so to speak.

God created man in his image or so the bible tells us. Considering how man has evolved in the last 200 years due to our adaptation to our changing environment, medicines and food quality, I don't think we are ready to come out of the oven yet. I think we are still cooking and won't stop till we are finally God like in our being. We sure as hell aint there yet!

I think your point is fascinating and certainly deserves to be looked into.
What is 7 million years in 300 million?
The idea that there may have been (another) intelligent species occupying the earth before us, I think, is certainly plausible. I am sure that they would have had enough time, and possibly the technology to remove all traces of their existence from the face of the planet. Either that or we have not evolved enough to see that. Who knows, they may have followed the same path that we humans are taking towards self destruction. I certainly hope that the next sentient species to live here will take better care of the planet than we have done.
