Does anyone know if there has been any progress so far, especially the Yellow Emporers?
RE: Ancient Tombs in China
Its fascinating reading what may be in this tomb, besides riches they talk about a ceiling with jewels for stars and a ground relief of china with rivers of mercury. I was thinking possibly a library, I believe he ordered all books destroyed except his approved list but since it seems he was a man of science I can't help but wonder if he might have a library he treasured that included banned books. It could be a Bonanza! I wish they would excavate it already, deadly traps be damned.

I think it is the Emperor who built the terracotta warriors that jbarry is talking about here, as I seem to remember reading something similar to this in one of the books I have - The Chinese Roswell by Hartwig Hausdof. Although published originally in Germany you should be able to get it via amazon.co.uk.

When I find more I'll post it.
RE: Ancient Tombs in China
Thanks John, as I suspected it was the Emperor who built the terracotta warriors, whom I believe was only on the throne for around 14 years, and was a particularly ruthless Emperor too from what little I can remember of Chinese history. I am not sure if they have actually located the tomb itself, and like you say there are many rumours that it may have been booby trapped, these may be just rumours though, alhtough I am not sure if I would take my chances!
I viisted China for 3 weeks back in 1986, at the ripe old age of 21, and part of the tour included a visit to Xian. It was one of the most amazing - if not the most amazing and awe inspiring thing I have ever seen - the only other place that came even close was of course the Great Pyramid, but for totally different reasons. I would love to go back to China at some point - there have been a lot of changes in the last 19 years, so it would be totally different to how I remember it. The bicycle traffic jams in Shanghai were a sight to behold - they have probably been replaced by cars now though.
