Hey everyone

I've a few Yoga DVD's and wondering if anyone knows of any where the teacher actually tells you when to breath in/out whilst doing it?

The one's I have don't and times I'm thinking which breath should I be doing or maybe it doesn't matter.

Also, I'd love one where it says eg this pose is good for the digestive system, internal organs, nervous system etc etc and if you know any then I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks

Hi Angel Star

I use some yoga DVDs and on most of them the instructor does mention when to breath in or out pretty much throughout the practice, although I think it may depend on what style of yoga you're practicing. In ashtanga or power yoga, the breathing tends to coincide with certain movements, so when to breath in or out tends to be quite specific, while in hatha or iyengar styles, the emphasis tends to be less specific especially earlier on in your practice.
Anyway, some DVDs I use are 'Power yoga total body' by Rodney Yee; 'Ashtanga yoga beginners practice' by Nicki Doane. These will give you quite a strong practice although they don't tend to mention what benefits you'd get out of the poses. For a lighter practice, try Katy Appletons Yogaworks series. She does mention a little how some poses benefit, though not so much. For much stronger practices, try Ashtanga yoga, the primary series by Richard Freeman.

P.S: Don't be decieved by the titles beginners practice or primary series. These can be quite strong.....or maybe I'm just not as strong as I thought.....

Thanks crystal elf for your kind help. I'm still quite new to Yoga and would just do the basic poses and definitely am a beginner 🙂

Must have a look for those DVD's you mentioned. I really enjoy doing it and you feel so good after it so am looking forward to learning more, thanks again.
