I've been a veggie for a long time, and am moving towards being a vegan.
Hardest thing to give up is going to be cheese, particularly Wensleydale. I don't eat a huge amount I just sometimes really want some. Other thing is parmesan on pasta.
There seem to be a lot of cheese substitutes around, and I've bought a couple, but they look so plastic they just sit in the fridge till they go off!
Anyone got any suggestions?
RE: Vegan cheese
Hi
I tried so many different vegan cheeses when I first went vegan and to be honest, I was totally disappointed by them all. I never found anything that even resembled cheese. On the bright side though, I am now more than happy to live without cheese.

RE: Vegan cheese
Here is a list my vegan friends and I recommend for you to try :
Super melting mozzarella Cheezly
The tofutti creamy ones
scheese
There's a gorgeous cream 'cheese' made by the same people who make Swedish Glace Ice Cream(vegan). A bit like Philidelphia but creamier.
Hope this has been some help. I recommend you try health stores and also either Co-op or Sainsburys for them.
Good luck 🙂
RE: Vegan cheese
thanks for this, I'll have a go.
RE: Vegan cheese
I also missed cheese when I went vegan and now I love the vegan alternatives. It takes a while, I think, to get used to the different taste but persevere, you will love them.
BTW swedish soft dairy free cheese is a rarity in some parts of the country and here in lincoln a few of us are targetting sainsburys, asda and tesco to stock it in.
Scheese do a stilton type vegan cheese which is lovely too.
RE: Vegan cheese
thanks, what you've written has reminded me that I didn't like soya milk when I first tried it, but now I do, so may be I need to go through the same process with the cheese replacements
