since becoming a vegan (11 months ago) i've noticed my teeth are awfully sensitive to cold food/drink! iv'e never had this problem before in my life (been vegatarian for 10 yrs before turning vegan).

could it be i'm deficient in certain vits/minerals or is it that i now use toothpaste with no fluoride?

any advice would be great thanks.

:confused:

I'm currently useing Jason Powersmile. My teeth are more sensitve especially where I have had some major dental work, a cap about 4 years ago. I try not to suck in the cold winter air we have at the moment. But it would be great to see it there is anything lacking in our diets that add to the sensitvity.

Or may be they are more sensitive because we are not coating them in animal prodcuts?!

could be a few things.

Sarakan toothpaste is good for this as its supposed to be good to nourish the gums. Lots of folks in the states buy it when they are recovering from cancer although I have no idea if it works.
Do avoid normal toothpastes as they are not veggie

I would also suggest rinsing the mouth 2 or 3 times daily with a good citricidal as a viral infection can cause this too
just mix a few drops in warm water

hope you sort it

Hey Daffodil;
I was having a problem with sensitive teeth as well, I did some research and found monosodium phosphate along with vit D and calcium works to thicken the enamel on your teeth. It takes some time but worked for me. Teresaw
