Does anyone else use this as a milk substitute? I'd never even considered it before but my health shop had cartons on special offer (99p) so I thought I'd give it a go. I tend to avoid milk as its a mucous producer so thought I would try this Rice drink on my muesli and also as a drink. Well, I think it's delicious and will certainly be buying some more, though I wonder what the correct price is. Is it nutritionally good too, does anyone know?

Usual price is around £1.60 ish depending where you buy it from.
We've used it on occasion, but not keen on the fact that one of it's main constituents is sunflower oil. Reminds us of Sunny D and all the controversy about the fact that it was mainly oil and not much juice. 😉

Also, we've found it to be a little sweet for using in some things. i.e. it's ok on breakfast cereal, but making pancakes with it leaves them with an odd sweet taste. However, different things will suit different people. Unsweetened soya milk works best for us especially when using it as an ingredient in baking etc.

LOL - I can't say rice actually looms large in my dreams! Giles, I hadn't noticed that it contains sunflower oil. It's only slightly sweet to my palate and great on cereals. I'm not sure that I would pay the full price for it though if it's not actually that good for me. I remember though a big debate here some time back about the possible disadvantages of soya (it was about tofu if I remember rightly) and that definitely put me off. It's like everything nowadays, one minute it's good for you and the next minute it's not. We're damned if we do and damned if we don't. Like long life lightbulbs.

I use it as I am intolerant to cows milk and soya.

I generally only use it on cereal and it is great on porridge! I generally buy mine from Tesco and I get the one with added calcium its about £1.60 for a litre.

One carton lasts about a week in the fridge which is great.

I like it just as a glass of milk but don't like it for cooking.
I don't buy it that often but it is £1.28 in our shops.

I'm vegan and I use Rice Dream, we only tend to use it for coffee though, as we find it doesn't curdle like soya milk does when we make coffee at home. On average it's £1.28 but is much cheaper in Asdas!
