hi to everyone on here, just wanted to say hya, and looking forward to reading some good things, well i have been vegetarian for 24 years,:) but not for health reasons but for animal rights.

Hi Alf,

Welcome to HP. Although I don't post on the veggie/vegan forum much, I've been vegetarian for just over 20 years myself.

I too became vegetarian due to the treatment of the animals but now feel that nowadays the options are there for responsible meat eating (unless you buy the cheap crap from the supermarkets). However, after 20 years as a vegetarian I can't really imagine the concept of eating meat and it wouldn't do my digestive system any good to switch back either! Besides which, the health benefits of being a responsible vegetarian (rather than those thin pale ones :p ) far outweigh the convenience of eating meat.
