i have searched, and searched some more.

my girlfriend now fiance is a vegie, no problem with that but i find finding good places to eat out for dinner is becoming very hard.
most people that say they serve vegie food is pubs, and normally that would be ok.

I am trying to find a place i can take her for our 2 yr that would not outright dissapoint her through a sheer lack of menu and quality of the food.

im not the richest guy but i have been able to save up around £60 for us both to eat out but finding a place is beyond me now.

i know places like TGI's and other pub stylee resturants do serve vegie food but we have been there and done that and a change would be nice.

could i get some adive please as my time is running out 🙁

i live near portsmouth / southampton so i dont mind a little drive but again dont have much money due to rising living costs.

thanks in advance.

Adam

Don't know if it is still there, but the White Horse in Bishops Waltham use to have quite an extensive veggie range - better check Yell.com to see if they still operate, as it is some years since I was there. There also used to be a great little restaurant on Palmerston Road (behind John Lewis?) in Southsea - but that was 8 years ago, so probably moved on by now.

Hello Adam,

A lot of Indian restuarants are very good for veggie food - that's if you like that type of food.

Just a suggestion!

Cheers

thanks for the replys so far. unfortunaly the girlie doesnt take indian too well, i know some chinese do vedgie but its just another 'take away' type of food.

i have tried veggieplaces.co.uk but was not overly impressed with the layout / information they give.

i have looked at the White horse but was unsure.. has anyone been there to shed some experiance ?

Greek restaurants are usually easy to find veggie food in (and are usually reasonably priced). I've always found that Thai restaurants are especially helpful and offer to adapt dishes for vegetarians.

The easiest way to decide is to get a list of local restaurants, call them and ask what choices they have for vegetarians and/or what they can come up with. I've rarely found a restaurant that is unhelpful when it comes to catering for vegetarians, most have come to realise that more and more people are becoming vegetarian and vegan and that not catering for them limits their potential customer base.

there is a campaign by the Vegan society to get more restaurants to cater for vegetarians and vegans, all you do is contact the vegan soceity and order a booklet to give to restaurants

Most restaurants have vegetarian options. In my town there's a couple of italian restaurants, a thai restaurant, indian, chinese and pubs among others. Some of them have menus on the internet if you google them.

Vegan options can be a bit harder to come by but usually you can ask them to adapt something for you. I usually manage, wherever my friends pick - even if it means getting stuck with cheese-less pizza or pasta in tomato sauce again.

if you are near southampton 'the barn' vegetarian b&b in the new forest also does meals for non residents. in fact while going to the veggie cafe in southampton a couple of years ago (not sure if it is still there) they recommended them for a nice meal out. we said, well actually that is where we are heading to stay for the weekend! the times we have stayed there the meals have been very nice (3 courses)
