Just found great info at and Dad's so impressed hes gone veggie! :):):) Im sooo happy and proud and our family now has two veggies. Dad's a doctor and thought lettuceleaf was brill and factual. Thats more animals saved from suffering. :nature-smiley-008:
thats great. never heard of it but will have a look now!
good to hear your dad has at least gone veggie.
But I for one do not like this website. How dare they compare the veal trade to a childs 1st day of school. An utter disgrace.
And there is a huge difference between most 'strict' vegetarians and vegans.

I'm not even going to start on the rest of the garbage on there.
Sorry but I think this website is of very poor taste and if anything is just a wind up . One of very poor taste, as many billions of animals suffer for the meat and dairy industry and the billlions of children that die of starvation each year while they stare at fields of grain they could eat but for the grain being there to supply the animals for teh meat and dairy industry instead of the starving children.
A very poor website altogether.

I couldn't believe it would just say that so I had to go and have a look. Seems to me that you've taken it completely out of context...
We are not saying that being a vegetarian is the most important thing that anyone can do; it isn’t. One capable and thoughtful meat-eater might be doing far more for the world than ten vegetarians together. It is just one aspect of living an ethical life.
It's talking about the whole package and saying that just because someone is vegetarian doesn't necessarily make them a better person than someone who is a meat eater. It's perfectly possible that a consciencious meat eater could lead a more ethical and caring lifestyle (overall) than ten vegetarians who may be saving suffering of animals but are instead destroying the planet by some other means.
I think the website actually comes across very open and honestly and doesn't shove things down your throat in a funamentalist sort of manner. I don't think it's a bad website at all if it's read properly and in the context of what they are saying.

I don't often post in this forum but I have to say I agree wholeheartedly with your post, Giles, especially your summary in the last para:

and I would also like to thank veggiegail for starting the thread and making others aware of the site 🙂

Hi Giles 🙂 and Holistic
Thanks for your support as I felt attacked by vegan. Im slowly learning that a few vegans look down on veggies as somehow incomplete. Giles isnt a veggie but I think hes wise and thoughtful and knowledgeable and kind and patient with me and a good example of a good meateater and he reads carefully.
Hi Vegan
Im shaking and should have quoted you but Im not good with putting quotes in yet but how can you say that they compared the veal trade with a childs first day at school? I didnt read that and I hate the idea of veal production and agree that youve taken things out of context because lettuceleaf arent saying go vegan and you dont like it.
How dare they compare the veal trade to a childs 1st day of school.
Vegan. You have mistaken what theyre saying. They dont even mention the veal trade from what Ive read and the bit youre angry about makes a lot of sense to me and its saying there is a difference between distress and cruelty.
if anything is just a wind up
I dont understand how to do 2 quotes in my reply unless someone can please help me so this is part 2 of my reply to vegan.
How can it be a wind up if its a registered charity supplying the information? Dad (who is a brill doctor and helps a lot of people and is very clever and very rational) was impressed and hes become a veggie now which he says is mainly down to my example and partly because he couldnt argue against what lettuceleaf was saying and it made him think he should join me. Hes also called it a balanced site for veggies. I enjoyed reading the book Juliet from Viva wrote but thought she was too emotional and Dad says shes wrong on some stuff.
Like every other veggie Im against all the suffering of animals so please dont think youve got the monopoly on caring. Youve picked a cow for your avatar and Ive picked a tiger so we both love animals.
