I have a few tins of braised tofu here....anyone suggest anything exciting to do with it apart from salad? (i've tried that)
thanks
I not tried braised tofu but have you tried stir fyring in in some sweet chill sauce? I use Taifun smoked tofu an it works a treat. A little oil in a hot fyring pan, add th shopped tofu, add the chilli sauce, some grated ginger and/or soya sauce/ five spice. Stir fry for afew minutes, then I put it on some foil and stick in the oven for 10-15 minutes - makes the chilli a little bit sticky.
Follow this with some sliced peppers/mange tout/baby sweetcorn, and serve with rice and or noodles
It might work with the braised tofu, but drain some of the fluid of first.

Not specially healthy, but tasty...
Tear the bits of braised tofu into bite sized pieces and shake off the excess liquid.
In a small bowl mix some wholegrain flour, salt and pepper, some dried herbs and spices that take your fancy, then dip the tofu bits in to coat thoroughly (this is easily and less messily done by shaking the lot up in a sealed sandwich bag - although its only less messy if the bag is very well sealed..!)
Then fry till crisp in a little sunflower oil, before adding to a salad or any other dish,
mmmmmmmmmmmmm!

My friend recently described the braised tofu as looking like something she saw in a documentary where a woman's conjoined twin was found inside her! It has put me off every buying a tin!!
The tins of mock duck are good though. If you bake them and then use them in pancakes with spring onion and cucumber and hoisin like you get in Chinese restaurants.
