Hi there,

My friend is pregnant and calls herself a vegetarian, but she does eat fish/seafood. Could anyone suggest anything she should take, if necessary, such as supplements to make up for what she doesn't get from not eating meat? She takes the pregnacare, but she was wondering whether there was anything else would help give her all the nutrients etc she needs.

Thanks,

Jo:D

Plenty of green veg - eg spinach, brocolli, for iron. I was veggie through my pregnancies and always ate these - and my midwife said my iron levels were better than most of her meat eating patients.

Hello Jo,

Pregnacare is supposed to be good. Being veggie I took it when we were trying, not trying now, but keep meaning to take it anyway (keep forgetting - need vits to improve my memory!) as it is a mutlivit for veggies. I find it hard to find good veggie multivits.

Love to you and your "veggie" friend 🙂

biocare do really good vitamins. may be worth contacting them direct. i am not sure if they do one specifically for pregnancy. as your friend is not a vegetarian she wont need vegetarian supplements. your friendis classified as a pescatarian, or she could just call herself a non meat eater, but she is not a vegetarian!
hope she has a great pregnancy and the baby is wonderful and heathly.

Thank you all for your replies, I have passed information on to my friend - think she'll be glad of advice. She's waited so long for pregnancy that she wants to do everything she can to eat healthily etc. She's luckly - not had morning sickness whereas I had it with both of mine[:'(]

Cheers
