I'm at a bit of a loss at the moment as to what to do for a physical exercise.
I am lucky as I'm slim even though I don't really do much exercise at the moment but I miss that tight toned up feeling I used to have when I used to go to the gym four times a week.
I had to stop because quite frankly it got to the stage where I would rather flabby if necessary than having to endure the boredom of feeling like a hampster on a wheel..it's just not me.
I did used to run five miles every other day and that was fantastic but at 43 nearly I feel that that will just be to wearing on my joints now.
I did yoga for a while which does suit my temperament but although I felt more relaxed and more supple I didn't notice anything feeling particularly that much more toned.
Do you think pilates could be the answer? I've seen that Lynne Robinson woman and she looks fantastic and I wouldn't mind a bod like that..then again I suppose she does it nearly every hour of the day!!
Will it give me that toned tight feeling back or is it more about flexibilty?
Hi,
I think Pilates could definately be your answer. To do Pilates properly requires you to be in tune at all times with your body alignment and which muscles you are activating. So it's not the mindless exercise you don't want. It is also sustainable, meaning you can keep doing Pilates for a very long time. Besides a great form of exercise for rehab, it is also great for general body maintenance, aiming to balance length and strength of opposing muscles. So no impact from running, but don't forget your cardio.
