Hello,

I am looking for someone (teacher?) to help teach me meditation. I am in North London and seem to be struggling to find someone to help? Any thoughts gratefully received.

Thank you

Keith

There's always one comic. lol

Hi Doodies,

Have you tried seeing who is advertising in the local library, alternative shops etc in your area. There are some of us up in Co. Durham who have faced a similar issue, so much so we're setting up our own meditation group.

Good luck in your search. 🙂

The FWBO run good courses in meditation.

Or their are self-development systems based on meditation which ensure a rounded development.

A good (and free!) system which works well can be read or downloaded on the "Guides to Enlightenment" peer support website.

There is a School of Meditation in London...

The School of Meditation - promoting and teaching Advaita meditation in London and the UK

They teach essentially the same technique as Transcendental Meditation (TM), but were established before the Trademarked TM organisation was set up. I believe that you can just go along and "drop in" to discuss with them (they have a sister school called the School of Economics which teaches practical philosophy courses around the UK and other countries - which I attended and found very good, and those attending the philosophy courses were offered the opportunity to learn Meditation through this school).

Hope that helps. PM me if you'd like some more info.

All Love and Reiki Hugs

Hi Doodies/Keith:

It's 3 months since the various suggestions for learning meditation.

Did you succeed in learning some meditation techniques and being able to get into meditative states?

Regards
Ivor

Hi Meadowsweet. I too live in Co. Durham, and would LOVE to be part of a meditation group. If you are up and running, and have room for one more please contact me.
Thanks.

Hi Busterburt,

I'm still working on it. Life keeps taking over. I'm being a bit rubbish really. Must kick myself up the bum and actually get back to finding out insurance/space etc.

I am currently doing a course with the British School of Meditation based in Cheltenham. It comprises a one-day introductory workshop with two 2-day workshops in the following months - all held on weekends.

I found that course in Chelteham too and am thinking of joining the one in September, so would appreciate more information on how your experience, it sounds great. There is also meditation teacher training in Ealing with joanne summer, which is cheaper and closer to me, has any one any experience of this?

For the original question..I wanted to start this meditation group at the cafe i waitress in for a long time, and approached several teachers, with no success. Then a yoga teacher came in and asked if she could start yoga classes in the cafe (its a great location) and I asked if she would teach meditation. That serendipitous meeting meant The Hub became a reality and has been running successfully for 6 months now! So Keith maybe its a case of 'when the student is ready the master will come!' and a teacher will find their way to you when your life is not taking over.

You are welcome to come any Tuesday to Watford and maybe that will help you see that it is possible to start a meditation meet very simply and its well worth a bit of effort. The benefits are wonderful, mentally, physically and 'community'
