My 7yr old son is showing a real interest in meditation,I dabble myself and am an attender of a buddhist temple nearby.

Can you reccommend any childrens meditation cd's?

Thanks 🙂

Just out of interest I Googled, 'meditation for children', and came up with lots of sites and what looks like some good free stuff which should get you started.

You could try Relax Kids and if on facebook look at Teaching Children Meditation Campaign both organisations are doing great work with kids.

I have never used a meditation cd in my life. So it is not about a cd. In my experience, children are more or less in No-Mind anyway, it is enough to guide their attention into heart and enjoy breathing through heart. Done at bedtime , they have a deep, relaxing sleep.

have you tried devising your own? if he shows an interest in any particular thing.. ie: he likes to be out in the woods, on the beach etc.. you could always talk him through a guided meditation that fits with the scene of his choice.. i know i've done this for my girls a few times (they're 15 and 11) but they have always, always enjoyed it and give me some interesting feedback.. 🙂

Hi, I guess like all of us, children have their own individual tastes. My daughter enjoys 'voyage of tranquility' by 'The Ark'. Its a cd Ive had for some years and Im not sure if it is still available. But its worth a try.

Good luck x

Hi, my girls are 5 and 7 and they have a cd called 'magical rainbows' by lorraine Phillips, I can recommend that, the girls love it and so do I! She has a voice like a big hug :). I think it has about 10 short guided journeys eg the pirate ship, the mermaid etc.
I believe the Relax kids ones are good too - i think those are the Dragons Den that someone mentioned....

Meditation

I realize this is a while you asked this but thought this maybe helpful to you and any others who have this query however ; The best person to guide our children is yourself as you know them best.So with regards to a cd for meditation, I am sure you could guide them through their favourite place where they feel at total ease in and create one for each of them.
