Has anyone heard of it or seen the DVD?
A friend lent it to me the other day. Thought it was a fantastic way of looking at things!
Be interested to find out if anyone has attended any of their workshops!
I've watched it, I loved it and I live by it!
The book is good too - it kind of fills in the blanks.
I've not done the workshops though.
It's not actually very original. As I've mentioned before on other threads regarding this, it's little more than a reworked version of countless systems/ways of looking at things that were popular in the 1970's.
I've seen it as part of a Balance Procedure workshop, and if I'm honest, it goes against some of what I understand to be the laws of karma, so I take what I agree with and leave what I don't!
I've read the book - I thought it was great - not particularly new ideas, but a different approach that people could find helpful.

Yeah, this must be about the fifth or sixth HP thread on it by now, and a search of the forum using the search engine here will reveal a variety of opinions... 🙂

The book was okay but a bit repetitive - a bit like the number of
HP threads on this subject!

Yep... I agree!! Hi Namaste Group, and WELCOME TO HP!!!!
We all learn this on HP - either the 🙂 way or the  way, or the 😡 way... but before you post something, do a little "search thread" for it - as the topic may have already been covered before, and the answers you may be looking for may have already been discussed!!
Hope you have a lovely time on HP ~ I have made some lovely friends on here, and it's nice of you to join in!!

Hi Laura,
Of course, absolutely. On other forums, one in particular, I got hit with snooty replies such as "We ended that discussion back in 1998". So what? I hadn't. It was a discovery of the 🙁 kind, citing dip_into_healing.
Here, I simply thought that the thread starter would find it useful to be apprised that there are a wealth of HP posts on this already, perhaps most interesting to read, and also that'll be why many may not yet again post at length on the subject, all over again, here now. 🙂
I believe most of the earlier threads are under book and movie reviews, that sub-forum.

Yes, V, former threads on The Secret can be found using Advanced Search to specify the Books, Music, Film Reviews forum. There's one from last summer with the delightful thread title of 'Gosh or Tosh' 😀
Time and experience have shown that new members tend to use Search BEFORE posting rather more for medical matters, and often join us having been googling for their complaint or symptoms and found HP at or near the top of the results list.
For topics such as this one, yes I'd agree that some of our 'older' members may not want to post again on a topic that's already been discussed, but on the other hand, we have new people joining us every day and they may have a valid and possibly fresh POV.
Personally, I can't comment on The Secret, because I haven't read it, but with Namaste Group's interest in life coaching [see her other posts in this forum] perhaps we have a slightly different slant 😉 I look forward to reading more from her 🙂
H.
If I posted on "Gosh or Tosh" I don't recall. That's a great thread title for it. :p (Opinions do seem to gravitate those two ways. :).)
I've probably posted this on one of the earlier threads then, but whereas Bannick correctly points to methods like this going back to the '1970s', I'd add that they were very popular in various guises and forms around the late 1800s and into the early 1900s. I'm thinking of New Thought, "The Power of Positive Thinking", Kahuna, endless other books and movements like that, and, regarding healing specifically, we might even consider Christian Science.
The real departure point between movements and books, etc., and difference, as often pointed out in earlier threads, is motive, or what do we use creative power for once we have an inkling of how to do it? Keeping in mind that it works for inner or self-change.
But on top of that, the methods are timeless and have always been known. An early esoteric book I read - yes, from the late 1970s - was "The Quantum Gods" by whoever. This was a detailed and Kabbalistic examination of the first verses of Genesis, showing that the description of how the "earth" was created in "seven days" was also an allegory or slightly hidden teaching on how we, as individuals, are creating our life-circumstances at every moment, and can change those circumstances within or around us, in seven steps or stages.
So the knowledge is literally timeless and millennia old. A "secret" (a nice commercial word) only if it happens to be new to the reader.

Thank you for the very kind welcome, and for the gentle reminder to use the search function.
😀 It is true, I was looking for responses from a Life Coaching perspective. I look forward to doing a bit more research on these forums... I am not put off by the number of posters, obviously I wouldn't want anyone to post unless they 😎 felt they had something to contribute... I'm not looking for people who want to up their post count!
😉 Its the quality not the quantity that matters, and from your responses I gained so much more knowledge than I was looking for. 🙂 Thanks again!

Thank you Holistic:) im new member here
Anyway just added info
Life Coaching helps you to fear forward, pass through the fear, breakthrough procrastination and get out of comfort zone.
It's getting to know yourself better. It's for people who are ready; those who are tired of being stuck where they are and who really want a change in their life.
What a Life Coach does is to help them process the un-conditioning and reconditioning, create new possibilities of the outcome of their goals and dreams. They will, as a result, experience a change of old habits and replace them with new ones.
It's for people who are open, honest and willing. Open to looking at things with a different perspective; Honest with themselves that something is not working in their lives right now; And willing to take actions that they have been thinking or talking about but have not had the courage to do so.
Life Coaching is really a self discovery journey with an experienced Life Coach.
