Wow - how bizarre - I was looking at this yesterday - afraid I don't know anything more about it than you - just wanted to recognise the co-incidence!!

i have been looking at it and feel very drawn to it.. but doesn't tell you much about what is involved.. i don't drive .. so if there are any seminars or meeting to go to.. I am krackered to say the least.. but it is 100% tempting...lol..

Hi and thanks for clarifying. I thought I’d just ask the question first. 😀

May I now reply to you both in one post? First off, I have to say I’m not familiar with this course, nor have I done any with BSY. So I comment only from the POV of what I’ve seen online:

It’s not at all unusual for coaches to specialise, known as “niche” coaching, here focussing on the spiritual aspect of personal development. If I was considering the BSY course for myself, I think I’d want a little more information … like how do the early descriptive paragraphs on that page relate to the bullet point list of topics below them? I thought it looked a pretty comprehensive list though. I’d also want to know who was teaching the course or, in this instance, who had devised it.

There’s an 0800 (free) telephone number at the top of the page, so it should be possible to talk to someone, preferably the course leader, to find out more.

You’ll find plenty already here on HP. If you put BSY into HP’s Search, and search on Subject, All Forums, you’ll find pages of results! Many are in the Student/Training forum, but not all. I looked at one or two of the general ones (ie not specific to any particular therapy), and a fairly common concensus of opinion seems to be that for acquiring information or further knowledge, the correspondence courses are fine. For the hands-on therapies and other practical experience, however, people thought that a local college might be the better course of action. BSY do provide practical sessions as well, but at extra cost, and the geographical locations may not suit.

People learn best by doing, not just by being told how to do it (think of learning to drive a car, for instance), and this is something I’ve been reminded of over and over when teaching. However, my guess is that if you are already relating to other people through your healing and readings work, then a correspondence course might be sufficient to fine-hone your existing communication skills or add new ones. And it does say on the BSY page that:

This course is suitable for those already on their spiritual path who wish to help other step onto theirs, or for those who wish to learn about their own spirituality and potential but do not wish to join a group or similar organisation.

So others reading this who might be considering such a course purely for their own development would also seem to be catered for.

It also says:

A spiritual coach will help people to think for themselves; to learn to trust their own feelings and intuitive conclusions and to adopt that which feels right and disregard that which doesn’t.

You don’t need me to confirm that ;), and I’d say that if you feel drawn to do the course, then go for it, my other suggestions were just by way of further investigation if you want to do that.

For comparison, you could also put “spiritual coach training [your county]” into Google UK, and see what results you get.

RE: spiritual coaching courses..

thanks for all your help.. looked on the net re coaching courses.. there were quite a few for NLP or life courses.. but it was the spiriutal side i was looking at - I have been told and feel that i am a sort of gatehelper that assists people onto their path. and the idea of getting proper coaching for it really got my attention - hence the draw to that particular course - i don't drive so the home learning side was ideal.. has also searched the site... so if anyone knows a site that deals with specific coaching/training for it.. i would love to hear..
many thanks for your help

RE: spiritual coaching courses..

Hi there - have just spoken to BSY - it is a totally correspondence course with no attendance needed at their centre.

Also as I had been on their mailing list I was notified of a two for one offer on their courses which runs until end of October - so . . . . I have just signed up for the course together with one on Flower Essences which seem to interest me at the mo.

Should get more info through in the next few days so if you want any more info let me know.

Take care x

Hi Darren

Why not give them a ring? There's a free 0800 number at the top of every page of their site. I gave the link a couple of times earlier in the thread, but for some reason it won't copy here properly, nor will it if I go to their home page and try to copy that. [&:]

Well my info came through as I'm on their mailing list - however when I rang and asked 'is the 2-for-1 still on?' the operator didn't at that stage know who I was and still said 'yes'. I would think that if you rang and did the same you'd get the same answer. Think its on 'til end of Oct. PS also got the £20 discount so not unhappy!! [sm=1syellow1.gif]

Good luck - let us know if you get them 2-for-1

RE: spiritual coaching courses..

This looks good Crystalseer - thanks for sharing it with us!

I'm studying to be a life coach but have been developing spiritually and am particularly interested in goddess spirituality and was wondering how I could combine it with the life coaching when I qualify - but this course seems like it would be of great help to me.............definately something for me to consider in the New Year!!
