Hi everyone!

Why does it seem that even with all the good intensions I never seem to get where I want to be?

I feel exhausted & my head feels fried!!!! There are so many changes I want to make, but like a typical Arien I start making changes to a 101 things then give me up before I see it through! End result - nothing changed! [:@]

The problem is somethings I'd like to change (moving out of my parents) - for reasons (mainly money) I am not able to do anything about. This just leaves me even more frustrated!

I feel weak & emotional at the moment and would love to know what to do next. How do I calm the stress levels? Am I trying to do too much all at once?

I know I've been avoiding HP for the last few weeks (probably trying to avoid my own issues!) and am paying for letting things build up!!! I have also stopped giving myself Reiki..... why do I do it to myself?

Apologies for the rant! Your help would be appreciated! [sm=grouphug.gif]

RE: Some Guidance Please!

Sounds like you need to focus, my dear (cracking advice to give to an Aries, I know...!) Your energies are all being aimed 56 ways from Sunday and you therefore can't follow through on any one thing.

While I wouldn't advise that you become a "plodder" and work through only one issue at a time (it would probably go massively against your grain and make you feel even more frustrated!) you need to forget (if only temporarily) about any situations you really can't do anything about - for example, you say that money prevents you from moving out of your parents' house, so you might want to consider committing a small portion of your wages to a savings account each week/month and set yourself a target - say, that you won't think about moving out again until you've got £500 in the bank.

Do you meditate for the stress? There seems to be a build up or blockage of something coming through in your rant - if you're a typical Ram, maybe a sport, or an exercise class, or even a run round the block every couple of days would help burst the dam.

"Grant me the strength to withstand the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

RE: Some Guidance Please!

Morrigan,

Thank you for listening & you're advise! I haven't been meditating - but I have recently brought some books to have a go.... Shall start that to clear my mind a little.

Everything gets all confused when you're this uptight!

The savings thing is a brilliant idea! And yes I should forget about the situation (some days its easier said than done!!!)

I think there's a lot of build up - at the moment my life seems to be changing all the time & sometimes I feel Im not keeping up with it very well....

Thanks again [sm=hug.gif]

RE: Some Guidance Please!

Hi poppy angel ~ and Hi to Morrigan and welcome to HP.

Life’s a bit like a game of snakes and ladders sometimes, isn’t it? I have every sympathy with what you’ve shared, Sarah, but I also believe that sometimes when we THINK we are back to square one, we aren’t really, because we’ve grown and moved on and gained experience … and perhaps not given ourselves credit for what we HAVE done, however small. Is there something for which you’re not giving yourself credit?

I hope Morrigan will forgive me for taking her signature ~ from the Serenity Prayer ~ and adding the second part, which is not widely known. Here is the full version:

THE SERENITY PRAYER

God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.
Grant me patience with the changes
that take time,
Appreciation of all that I have,
Tolerance of those with different struggles
And the strength to get up and try again
One day at a time.

I agree with what Morrigan has said about “plodding” not perhaps being the best route for an Aries to go, but when faced with mountains of “stuff to do” ~ then “chunking” can be a useful tool. It’s like the question: How do you eat an elephant? Answer: One bite at a time.

As one with a huge potential for running round like a headless chicken, even more so as much of my work is home-based, combined with a low boredom threshold, I find it pays dividends to sit down and divide up what I have to do into “chunks” that are SMART. Different versions have been given, mine is:

Specific
Measurable
Achievable
Realistic
Targetted.

An example ~ when faced with a mountain of correspondence, I’ll pick out just those involving snail mail, type the letters, write the cheques etc and then walk to the letter box with them. That’s it, job done! Feeling of achievement and satisfaction, however small. This also creates what’s known in NLP as a “change of state” ~ finished task, gone out, got exercise, come back refreshed, tackle something quite different.

Another way is to “chunk” the relative importance of the “mountain” into what is:

1. Urgent
2. Important
3. Neither urgent nor important but wants doing sometime
4. Don’t bother/not necessary/dump it.

I hope some of this is helpful for “starters” and, of course, it is possible that you are still adjusting to the change of energies following your Reiki attunement. If you do feel like self-treating, I’m sure you’ll find it beneficial and the more you do,the more it will increase the flow of Reiki.

You said you would love to know what to do next. What would you LIKE to do next? What’s top of your wish list?

Best wishes,

Holistic

Sarah

great to see you on here again! We have really missed you and I am glad that you are back. Again, feel free to PM again if you wish. BTW, apologies for not answering to you earlier but Mondays are my busy evening.

Yes, we have shared your situation in the past and I think Sarah the most important thing is to keep on believing that you CAN do it.

How do I calm the stress levels? Am I trying to do too much all at once?

By focusing on the greatness within you, on the positive enrgy within you and not allowing any negative feelings to prevail. Also follow some of the things that we shared together before. Only you can change your life.

Much love.

RE: Some Guidance Please!

Holistic,

You are so right about snakes & ladders!!! You are also right, I am not back at square one - I have made some pretty big changes in my life (have decided to stop my business). I think I tried to bite off more than I could chew! So I will definately try making the list & put into order of importance so I can work through it practically.

On the top of my wish list..... Close the Business (have arranged to see accountant today to find out what I need to do!)

Thank you so much Holistic, you're words are always helpful & kind!

Hi Sarah

Thank YOU, and it was my pleasure! 🙂

I very rarely post in this forum nowadays, I just wanted to pop back and say Hi and welcome back to an old friend.

Hope the meeting with the accountant goes well.

BTW, just a tiny reminder, though probably not necessary ~ there were TWO threads on confidence:

"Confidence building" ~ which I started, and
"Confidence" ~ which was yours.

Take care (or as a friend of mine responds to that: "Take a risk".) 😉

RE: Some Guidance Please!

Thanks for the welcome, guys - and for the full wording of the Serenity Prayer, I didn't know all of it (and misquoted the first line...is my face red!)

I'm never sure whether my feelings on things are totally appropriate for a forum like this - especially some of the more spiritual pages - because although I consider myself to be a very spiritual person (I'm a Scorpio by birth and a solitary witch by inclination) my solutions tend to be very practical and rational! I suppose it's because my first love will always be elemental magic, which has as one of its ground rules (no pun intended) that you cannot develop your higher level understanding until your roots are secure.

Morrigan

Welcome back again. You are always welcomed on these pages. As a moderaor I am sure that you understand that my main concern is to make sure that debate happens in a civilised way and that the subject posted "fit" within the scope of that particular forum. So, as far as life coaching issues is concerned, you are welcomed to post here any time. But you are also welcomed to share your spirituality on the appropriate forums here on HP. The great thing is that we have so many and so much to share that I am sure you will never get bored and you will always find great things to read.

All the best.

RE: Some Guidance Please!

Hi Morrigan

I hadn't even noticed the discrepancy in the wording of the Serenity Prayer, so no need for a red face, I do assure you. Anyway, who's to say "my" version is the right one?

We seem to share a few interests, and perhaps we'll meet up again in another forum. The ground rule you mention here seems to me to be very sound, though. 😉

Best wishes,

Holistic

RE: Some Guidance Please!

THE MOUNTAIN
Are the choices yours or what you feel others expect of you? Too many spend to much time thinking how to be, what to be, what others wish me to be. Rather than knowing what and who you are. Knowing oneself, strengths and weaknesses, fears and what contends, brings with it true power. Take time to introduce yourself to you. Use a mirror if you must, but acceptance and the disposal of vanity, its associated control tools and a spiritual wisdom and peace will embrace you. I know it sounds too simple, too good to be true, even too easy. Road rage, envy, gluttony are all products of a system.
Knowing the ‘Self’ you are more genuine and complete. With self awareness you appreciate yourself for who you are. This gives rise to calm and gentleness, whereby you can allow things to be as they are rather than forcing them to be a certain way. Knowing how to be means you never have to levitate above the ground, but rather sit like a mountain. Solid immovable and a compass point for others to navigate by. Accepting and knowing who you are, you have accomplished much of your goal. When you have acceptance of who you are, you are no longer comparing yourself to others. You will no longer be embarrassed or need to pretend to be more than you are. since your mind is not distracted, you will be able to see and catch opportunity from your position of strength. For thousands of years there are documented instances of leaders, that while physically inferior to the armies they command, they had the power to command them.
Sun Tzu teaches:
“He leads to battle, but does not seek fame. He will retreat and fears no blame”.
Understand that you do what is best, not what will attain the best status. Yet are able to admit your error with dignity should you find your decision wrong. Pride has no place in a battle.

Look at why you feel need for change or to make decisions - you may have what I call ‘superwoman syndrome’:D

welcome to HP and to the life coaching forum. I hope that you enjoy being here and sharing with all of us.

As for the above....well you make some inyeresting points though it sounds very much of a spiritual journey more that something that everyone can do day by day whether they have a spirituality or not. Thanks for sharing.
