Well where do I start I have had the worst two years of my life but on the plus side I have learnt so much from the experiences that I am now feel like I am standing at a crossroads of my life but not sure which path to take.
To give you a brief overview of what I have dealt with over the last two years I have split up from my husband of 17 years after he had an affair (Waiting for my decree absolute).
Spent five weeks in intensive care last year fighting for my life (Body started to shut down after minor surgical procedure)
Ex - Husband got the finance company to take my dream car off me as the finance on it was in his name.
Nearly had the house repossessed as ex - hubby was suppose to be paying the mortgage and hadn't been.
Got a stalker who is now in prison.
Attempted rape in my own home by stalker.
New car been smashed up three times and house windows put through by stalker.
Alcohol problem - Been drink free now for 6 weeks.
In the process of being made redundant - 28 days to go.
My mum died two weeks ago.

So as you can see not the easiest of times but there are people worse off than me all though at times it doesn't feel like that.

I just feel that now I have come through all this I am ready for a new life. At the moment i work in a finance department but somehow it doesn't fit me anymore. I always wanted to be a really successful high flying accountant but now I think the measure is not how much I earn but more to do with me jumping out of bed every morning with a smile on my face and having real passion for what I do.

This is the problem - I have no idea what career to do next. Everything I have looked into is alot less paid than what I earn now - Which isn't an option as I have just bought my ex out of the house.
Also the courses I would like to do are years of training and as I am 40 years old I don't want to spend the next 5/6 years training. I would love to find a job where the money is on a par to what I earn now and the courses are short courses or will take a couple of years at the most. I don't currently have any further education quals. My interests are psychology, talking to people, good with children and adults. I am also good in my current role as business analyst. I have taken loads of the career tests on the internet and based on the results I could do anything which wasn't what I wanted them to say.

So any thoughts would really help.

Hi,

Does sound like a rather tough time but as you are looking at change I would think you are well on your way to 'recovery'.

psychology, talking to people, good with children and adults. I am also good in my current role as business analyst.

This made me think that maybe something for you to look into could be Hypnotherapy. The course I did has hypnosis, NLP, Time line therapy, councelling, Gestalt Therapy and some more!!! I just completed a 2nd course and was actually surfing for more courses over the weekend. To become a registered Hypnotherapist there are many courses where you would do 7 day residential course, have a few months to work on people, then do another 7 days intensive etc. and you can do a very good course in 2 years.

Another reason I think this might suite you was that I came across a few pages of bussiness consultants who also offer motivational speaking, stress reducing courses for staff, etc. and I think this will fit very well with your current position.

Who knows - maybe you can even get some of this training done through a company in order to enhance their services as you can earn your keep with your business analyst side.

Hope this gives you some thoughts 'outside the box' and that you find something to suite your needs and makes your soul happy!

Hi Karen
You really have been through the mill recently. And well done to you for now wanting to move on and looking to the future.
From reading the above it seems that money is very important to you in your next job. As well as passion. What else is important, what do you value?
Clarify what it is that you want in a job/career and from there see what jobs could be easily available to you - without too many years of study.
Make a shopping list of your perfect job, that will focus your mind and more ideas will come to you.
I wish you every success.
All the Best
