I have just won a free one-hour life coaching session and wondered what I should do to prepare, to make sure I get the most out of my hour.
I am not sure how much can be accomplished in a single hour, or whether it is a way of getting me to sign up for a longer course, but I would be interested to hear what you think.

quite a lot can be accomplished in an hour esp if you decide beforehand just what area of life you would like to focus on and what you would like to have happen.
I expect you will be given an opportunity to book further sessions, but if the coach is ethical s/he wont want to sign you up if you are not a match to what they have to offer/the kind of client they want to work with

Many coaches offer a complimentary session as it gives the client a chance to experience coaching and also get an idea whether they gel with the coach in question. The coach should also be able to tell if the client is ready for coaching or if they might be better to seek some other form of therapy.
Make sure you have paper and pen as you will need to make notes.

Prepare yourself for Coaching
As a coach who has been working with clients for a couple of years now I came across the following resource a short while ago.
I have downloaded the free report that were on offer, and have tailored them to suit my needs. In fact, I now use them to attract clients and also to give away as interesting information to clients. I don't know an awful lot about the company that is producing these reports, all I can say is I have found them very interesting and helpful indeed.
