Hi all
I am have just got my cd form Newcastle College and an starting the Edexcel Level 2 BTEC Certificate In Introduction To Life Coaching.
Just wondered if anyone had any experince of them and do you have any advice you could give to completing the course, as I am an Adult student who has not studied for some time 🙂
hi there,
studying from home can be quite a hard task, as you do need to keep motivated, so just a few tips:
Put set times/dates in your diary when you are going to study, and make it a time when you wont have distractions.
Set yourself space to study, and again, have this free from distractions, so not in a room where the TV is on etc.
If you have family or housemates, let them know the times that you will be studying and ask for a bit of peace.
If you have tutor support with your course, use it! Even if it is just to say hello, and use forums like this to share your experiences, and ask questions.
The internet is a great source of information too, so research your subject, and use it to ensure that you get the best from your course.
Lastly, if you find your course challenging, then dont give up, the harder the challenge, the greater the achievement when you get your qualification at the end of it!
Good luck, and enjoy!
Thanks for the advice, I just looked at the first assesment, gee looks like ther is a lot of writing to do!!
Hi Radiantpaper,
Though in a different thread I responded to you that I wouldn't recommend correspondence courses, I have actually done the Newcastle College coaching course a few years ago when it was first set up and must say that the quality was pretty good in comparison with the great majority of other distance learning courses I've come across.
The main thing I would recommend is practice, practice, practice whatever you are learning.
Masha
I ppreciate the advice. Do you think any coachs would let me work for free or see how they do things?
I dont really want to invade on thier space or become a pain in the butt. lol
Hi
I agree with Masha B. I initially trained as a coach with a distance learning coach training provider and it was no where near as effective as working with live trainers and interacting with other delegates on the live training days to improve my learnings.
You could ask some coaches if they will allow you to sit in however many coaches work over the telephone and those that do face to face may be reluctant as the client may be less forthcoming in the session if another person present, not mentioning confidentialilty issues. However nothing to stop you contacting some local coaches who may be willing to help.
